Police are hunting a sex attacker after a woman in her 20s was raped in a cemetery.
A police cordon was put around the graveyard as detectives commenced house-to-house inquiries and forensic officers were called to the scene.
It was understood that officers from Hampshire Constabulary were called in by a crew from the South Central Ambulance Service.
They said that a woman, believed to be aged in her 20s, had told them she had been raped at the cemetery in Cemetery Lane, Southampton, Hampshire.
A statement from Hampshire Constabulary said: 'Police were called at 6.44am this morning by the ambulance service, reporting that a woman aged in her 20s had been assaulted in the Cemetery Lane area of Southampton.

'The woman has reported to police that she was raped at this location in the early hours of the morning. Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
'Police are currently at the scene and specialist officers are supporting the woman.'
Walkers prevented from using the cemetery for an early morning walk today called for better lighting in the cemetery, with solar panels perhaps put in the trees to discourage anti-social behaviour.
