Purdue's giant 7-ft-4 center Zach Edey had some trash talk for Tennessee after his 40 points propelled his team into the Final Four of the NCAA tournament.

CBS Sports interviewed the 21-year-old Edey, who also had 16 rebounds in Sunday's Elite Eight game, after his double-double display display in Detroit.

Asked about his mentality in the Boilermakers' win against the Vols, Edey said: 'They thought they knew us, man.

'They thought they knew we had it in our hearts... I promise you they did...

'We're f***ing winners, is what we do!,' he added.

Purdue's 7-ft-4 center Zach Edey had some words for Tennessee after his 40-pt piece, Sunday

CBS Sports interviewed Edey after he led Purdue to its first Final Four appearance since 1980

Edey shot 13-for-21 from the field and 14-for-22 from the foul line to ensure that top-seeded Purdue (33-4) would make its first Final Four appearance since 1980.

But, the Boilermakers had to overcome a 37-point performance from Dalton Knecht.

The No. 2 seed Volunteers (27-9) have never reached the Final Four in 26 tournament appearances.

To seal the win, Edey - a two-time Consensus first-team All-American - blocked Knecht's layup as the Northern Colorado transfer and former junior college player drove to the basket with Tennessee down five and 33 seconds remaining.

Ahead of Sunday's game, the Vols had matched the longest NCAA Tournament run in school history, 12 years after the program's 2010 team lost to Michigan State by one point in the Elite Eight.

Rick Barnes, Tennessee's 69-year-old coach, came up just short of his second appearance in college basketball's season-ending showcase and first since leading Texas to the national semifinals in 2003.

Purdue will either play Duke or North Carolina State in the Final Four, next Saturday, April 6.
