WWE star Becky Lynch has outlined how a relationship with a fellow WWE star failed before she hit the big time.

Lynch is one of the biggest stars in WWE today, and will take on Rhea Ripley for the Women's World Championship at WrestleMania this weekend in one of the biggest matches of her career.

She rose to stardom quickly after debuting in the company in 2013, becoming one of the greatest and famous wrestlers of all time and continues to go strong following her return three years ago.

Married to fellow WWE star and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Lynch took over a year off when she fell pregnant with the pair's daughter in 2020, returning at SummerSlam in 2021 to defeat Bianca Belair.

Though she is now settled with Rollins, it was not always that way, as she revealed in her new biography The Man: Not Your Average Girl.

They both now work in WWE but once went their separate ways due to Balor moving to Japan

It was fellow Irish star Finn Balor who Lynch was referring to, with the veteran having trained her in her early days before going onto become a megastar in his own right.

The pair dated a number of years ago, but their lives made it difficult, with Balor going to wrestle in Japan and Lynch still in Ireland.

'When he left, I knew it was over between us,' she wrote. 'The distance was too great and over the last few months I had simultaneously become demanding, clingy and scared of losing him.

He was about to live out his dream, and I wasn't part of it.'

There were few wrestlers in Ireland when now-42-year-old Balor began training, with the star eventually helping out at local wrestling schools and launching The Fight Factory alongside Paul Tracey.

Though the pair eventually grew close, Lynch wrote in her book that she thought Balor originally looked like 'a real douchebag'. Now, however, it could be argued that the The Judgement Day member was the main person in helping shape Lynch's career.

Balor leaving for Japan was seemingly what caused them to separate, while Lynch headed to America to pursue her wrestling dream. Eventually, both stars would end up as major players in WWE.

Both will be in action at WrestleMania this weekend, with Lynch bidding to defeat Ripley and win her latest title in the company.

Balor, meanwhile, will team with faction-mate Damian Priest to defend their tag team titles in a six-team ladder match against Awesome Truth, New Catch Republic, DIY, The New Day and A Town Down Under.

The Irishman's participation was momentarily thrown into doubt on Monday when he shared a video of a freak injury he had suffered at a house show the day prior, though he is expected to be fine to perform.
