Charley Hull has apparently started smoking in order to quit vaping after the World No 8 went viral this week for signing autographs with a lit cigarette in her mouth.
Doing her finest John Daly impression, the 28-year-old Hull puffed away while giving fans a memento from the US Women's Open.
The footage went viral on social media - as is often the case when Daly himself turns up to a major with a lit cigarette - and it has now been claimed that there is unorthodox reason behind Hull smoking.
A reporter for GOLF.Com, Zephyr Melton, claimed on Twitter: 'Best tidbit of the week from a longtime LPGA caddie: Said Charley told him she was smoking cigarettes so she can quit vaping'.
The images of Hull smoking weren't missed by her fellow competitors at this week's event in Pennsylvania - at Lancaster Country Club.

'One of the biggest things for me is routine. That's why the job that I have works well in that my days have a regular structure to them.
'When I'm away on tour, I can get into a really good routine and that helps me enormously. I have a better understanding of myself in terms of what works for me and what does not.
'I know how important routine is for me and I'm better at scheduling and planning so that I can be as healthy as possible. I put myself first. I know my triggers and how to cope. I just do me.'
Hull, who has more than 438,000 followers on Instagram, is interested in fashion and described her style as 'unapologetic.'
