Trent Alexander-Arnold may not be feeling too great right now but the stats paint a different picture of the Liverpool man's performance against Denmark.

Alexander-Arnold started in midfield once again but had seemingly little impact to viewers watching at home.

The Three Lions lost the midfield battle in Frankfurt and it was Alexander-Arnold who was first to be removed from the game.

The 25-year-old's number came up just nine minutes after the half-time break with Conor Gallagher coming on in his place.

Alexander-Arnold cut a dejected figure as he trudged off with the general consensus on social media being that Southgate's 'experiment' with the full-back had failed.

Gareth Southgate removed Trent Alexander-Arold from the game in the 54th minute

However, Opta have produced stats that show he was the most effective of the midfield three.

No player created more chances (three) or played more line-breaking passes in the final third (five) for England against Denmark,' they tweeted.

England's substitutions failed to change the game and the Three Lions missed out on the chance to seal top spot in their group.

England face Slovenia on Tuesday knowing a second-placed finish in the group would mean a last-16 meeting with hosts Germany.

The stats show that Alexander-Arnold was actually the most effective of the midfield trio

'We know we can improve,' England captain Harry Kane told reporters after the game.

'I know there will probably be loads of noise and a bit of disappointment back home, but we experienced this in the last Euros as well when we drew to Scotland.

'We're starting games well, but when the teams are dropping deeper we're not quite sure how to get the pressure on.'
