World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe looks set to miss out on the 2024 Olympics despite a desperate plea for his involvement by French president Emmanuel Macron, according to reports.
Paris is hosting the Games this summer, and whilst men's football is primarily for under-23s, there are spots available for more senior players - and Mbappe is one of the sport's most well-known figures.
The country's leader Macron has pushed for Mbappe's inclusion in the France squad as the hosts look to win the gold medal in the Olympic event this summer.
However, Real Madrid have reportedly not wavered in their stance that Mbappe should join up with the club after Euro 2024, and not participate in the Olympics later in the summer, according to Radio Marca.
It is only a matter of time before Mbappe's move to Real Madrid in the summer is confirmed, with the French superstar definitely departing PSG as a free agent.

President of France Emmanuel Macron had reportedly tried to get Mbappe for the Games
Macron recently crossed paths with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez at an event marking FIFA’s 120th anniversary - where the president pushed for Mbappe's involvement in the 2024 Olympics.
However, Radio Marca claim Macron was informed that Real Madrid will not allow any of their players to compete at the Olympics, because it is not sanctioned by FIFA.
Injury concerns and burnout are also cited as factors in denying Mbappe the opportunity to be at the Paris Games, with the French international set to join up with his team after Euro 2024, rather than any further national commitments.
The new LaLiga season is set to begin on August 14, just five days after the gold medal match in Paris, if France were to reach the showpiece finale.
The hosts have been put into Group A at the Olympics, and will play the United States, New Zealand, and an opening match against Guinea on July 24, which comes just ten days after the Euro 2024 final in Berlin.
As part of his departure from PSG, Mbappe threw a lavish farewell event for 250 guests at an exclusive restaurant in Paris, as he looks to leave the club he first played for in 2017.

There are also reports that Mbappe has spent £15m buying a mega-mansion in Madrid ahead of his move to Spain.
He was also named in Didier Deschamps' squad for Euro 2024, with France coming up against Poland, Holland and Austria in the group stage next month.
