Squad numbers are often a contentious issue for football fans, so eyebrows may have been raised upon seeing what was on the back of Alisson's Brazil shirt on Saturday night.

The Liverpool goalkeeper turned out for the South Americans in a warm-up friendly against Mexico, ahead of this summer's COPA America, but wasn't wearing the usual number on his jersey.

Instead, Alisson took to the field wearing the goalkeepers shirt with the unusual number of 110 on the back.

However, before shirt aficionados run to complain, there was a reason behind the shirt number and it won't be repeated.

The number 110 shirt was worn by Alisson due to him be captain on the 100th anniversary of the Selecao.
