A magistrate has branded former footy agent Ricky Nixon a liar as he was found guilty of assaulting a postman during a parcel delivery at his home.

The controversial 61-year-old claimed he was acting in self defence during the altercation on March 10, 2022 at his Port Melbourne address.

The Melbourne Magistrates' Court heard last week that Nixon assaulted postman Behroz Kahaliqi and launched a parcel at him following an incident with Nixon's girlfriend, Melissa Huynh.

Nixon said he was forced to defend himself from the postie, who he claimed called his partner a 'c**t'.

Nixon had claimed he was acting in self defence during the altercation on March 10, 2022

'He stood there with parcels and a box and said "your girlfriend is nothing but a sl*t and c**t of a thing" … he then punched me, kicked me on the knee (and) threw a box at me,' Nixon told the court.

'I did not create [the alleged incident], I just said I was Ricky Nixon and he went off his head.'

On Tuesday, Magistrate Vincenzo Caltabiano found the former footy agent's evidence was 'not credible or reliable'.

'I am not satisfied that there is a reasonable possibility that Mr Nixon's account is correct,' magistrate Caltabiano ruled.

'I am satisfied that Nixon assaulted Mr Kahaliqi while they were standing at the door.

'I am satisfied Nixon then dragged him in (to his property) and further assaulted him.'

Magistrate Caltabiano ruled that Nixon had assaulted the postie with no threat to his own safety and was not acting in self-defence.

The magistrate added that Nixon's evidence that he didn't throw a parcel at the postie is not reliable or credible.

Nixon was found guilty of assault and discharging a missile

Nixon was found guilty of discharging a missile and unlawful assault and will be back in court on June 27.

This month, Nixon is due to start acting in a new series called Vendetta 19 Nixon where he plays amputee gangster Thomas Moran.

'I live a very different and colourful life,' Nixon told the Herald Sun.

'When I was asked about this I spoke to a few friends and I thought it's a challenge.'

Filming for the new series will begin in June and the pilot will air this Spring on social media.
