A Rotherham star has performed a tremendous gesture by paying for pints for 600 fans ahead of the club's final game of the Championship season at home to Cardiff on Saturday.

The player in question is expected to bring his four-year stay at Rotherham to an end, with the Millers having been relegated to League One.

Ahead of the last game of the campaign the player will pay for the first 600 pints for fans at the Cutlers Arms, which is situated close to Rotherham's stadium.

A raffle will also take place for a shirt signed by the player. The pub will open earlier than usual at 9am and each pint will come with a card that includes a message written by the player.

Goalkeeper Viktor Johansson has performed the kind gesture.

Rotherham fan Kev Johnson wrote on X: 'Special Message from Viktor @Viktor1898

'At 9am this Saturday The @CutlersArms will open early at his request with a special treat for Millers Fans.

'The first 600 pints (1 per person) are being paid for by Viktor as a THANK YOU (Not Goodbye) for your support. Each drink comes with a card and a message written by Viktor, to the fans that you can save forever.

'This is something special, from someone special, so get down early, grab a beer and raise a glass to our Viking. There will also be a signed Viktor shirt on display behind the bar so dig deep and buy some raffle tickets please, all proceeds go to the Rotherham Hospice.

'This is an unbelievable gesture and show of appreciation for the support given to Viktor from the #rufc fans.

'Special shout out to Brett @ BSB Printing for the cards and the team at Cutlers for helping put this on.'

Swedish shot-stopper Johansson made the switch to English football when he joined Aston Villa as an academy player in 2015.

After a loan spell at Alfreton Town, Johansson joined Leicester City permanently but he didn't receive many opportunities and ended up signing for Rotherham in 2020.

During his time at Rotherham Johansson has made 143 appearances.
