Roy Keane has laid into Man United after Manchester United's FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry and claimed it was the Red Devils who looked like a Championship side.

The former United captain ripped into Erik ten Hag's side after seeing them give up a 3-0 lead in a thrilling encounter at Wembley.

Though United eventually progressed to the final after a shootout victory, Keane believes the side is absent of leaders and bemoaned the 'same conversations' that are had about the team's failings, claiming they 'rode their luck'.

'Some of the United players and supporters weren't going over the top with the celebrations.' He said on ITV. 'They were almost embarrassed to win at the end.

'Whenever I see this United team I don't like what I see. Talk about leadership and characters, I don't see that in this United team. My goodness, they rode their luck today.

There were muted celebrations from the majority of the United team after they had survived the scare

'We're having the same conversation every week with Man United, you don't know what you're going to get.'

He singled out players for showing a lack of character and said goalkeeper Andre Onana needed to display more 'courage'.

'You always say you need a bit of luck. Maguire said they showed good character, I don't see character in this group of players,' he said. 'I'm looking at the goalkeeper, wasting time. Just get on with the game. Show some courage.

He added that it was Coventry who looked like the Premier League side and United the Championship team.

'It’s getting to the stage that I’m almost disliking them,' he went on. 'I see a group with bad habits, they were almost frightened to win the game.

'There’s huge problems for Manchester United going forward but they got the job done.

'In extra-time Coventry looked like a Premier League team and Manchester United looked like a Championship side.”

The Premier League looked in complete control for much of the game, having taken an early lead through Scott McTominay, which they doubled with Harry Maguire's header in first-half stoppage time.

Bruno Fernandes then gave them what looked to be an unassailable 3-0 advantage with a deflected shot just before the hour mark but Mark Robins' team soon roared back.

Coventry skipper Ben Sheaf missed the fourth penalty for the Championship side which allowed Hojlund to win it

Mark Robins' side could only be beaten on penalties, having shown remarkable powers of recovery to comeback from a 3-0 deficit

First Ellis Simms scored his fifth goal in as many FA Cup games in the 71st minute before Callum O'Hare's wayward shot deflected and looped over Andre Onana and into the United goal.

Coventry completed their comeback in the 95th minute when Haji Wright calmly converted a spot-kick which had been awarded for a handball on Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

In extra-time both teams hit the woodwork prior to Victor Torps last-minute strike from close range which looked to have won it for the second-tier outfit but their joys were short-lived as the goal was ruled out for an offside in the build-up.

Coventry's fairytale was to go without a happy ending as skipper Ben Sheaf's miss allowed Rasmus Hojlund to step up and set up a repeat of last year's FA Cup final against Manchester City.
