Roy Keane has accused Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk of being arrogant with his post-match comments about Manchester United.
Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by United at Anfield and van Dijk was left hugely frustrated after the game, suggesting that only his side attempted to win.
Those comments provoked an angry response from United legend Keane, who suggested that van Dijk was being disrespectful towards United.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane said: 'Arrogance comes into football and it can happen. You go away and you're disappointed with the draw but you have to take the draw. You can't win every game of football even if you have all these chances. The bottom line is the most important stat is the scoreline.
'Every week we get stats thrown at us, it's about putting the ball in the net. That's why the strikers are vital. Whatever about Man United buzzing or Man United this, Liverpool had opportunities and they didn't take them. That's their own fault. Nothing to do with how Man United set up or Man United's injuries or whatever it might be.

United legend Keane was involved in a heated debate with ex-Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge
Van Dijk suggested Liverpool were the only team that attempted to win the game at Anfield

Keane added that he feels that van Dijk was 'out of order' with his comments.
He said: 'I played Liverpool many a time and they were pretty pleased with a draw. I didn't like his message. I think he's out of order.'
Former Liverpool striker Sturridge stated his belief that van Dijk didn't disrespect United but was instead frustrated with his own team's performance.
Sturridge said: 'I don't think he did, I don't think he dissed Man United. I think every footballer around the world has respect for Man United. I'm not going to say he's dissing them. I just think he's disappointed Liverpool didn't go out there today and do what they thought they would be able to do.'
Keane then replied: 'We'll see them against Arsenal next week. Maybe Arsenal might come and try and win the game.'
Keane was referring to van Dijk's comments in which the centre-back was critical of United's approach to the game.
Van Dijk said: 'How we played the game, having most of the ball, there was only one team that were trying to win the game, unfortunately it didn't happen.
'Sometimes we shot too easy, could have passed it to the overlapper. For me it's easy to judge the situation. The right decision sometimes was lacking , but frustrating because we were superior in all aspects. They are buzzing with a point and we are disappointed.
'They're not in the best phase. I want to look at my own side more, we should have won it. We have big games coming up. We have to learn from certain situations.

'Last year we didn't come in with a good feeling and we won comprehensively but last year doesn't count now. Unfortunately we couldn't win.'
United were eager to avoid a repeat of the 7-0 thrashing they suffered against Liverpool last season, with Erik ten Hag's side looking far more secure defensively on this occasion.
Although they were reduced to ten men late on when Diogo Dalot was sent off, it was still a largely positive evening for United as they managed to emerge from Anfield with a point.
