Scottie Scheffler won't want to remember his performance in the final round of the Open on Sunday, as he three-putted from six yards and logged a 150-yard tee shot.

The 28-year-old Scottie arrived to the par-4 9th fully in the mix but unexpectedly found the left rough with his tee shot. He played his second just short of the green, leaving himself a 50-ft up-and-down for par.

Scottie proceeded to putt, leaving himself a six-footer for a four.

That's when things started going downhill for the World No. 1, as he then three-putted for double bogey, effectually ending his hopes of winning his first Open Championship in the span of 30 seconds.

His breakdown was tough to watch, but the look on Scheffler's face afterward said it all as he closed his eyes, knowing he committed to many errors.

A DAY TO FORGET: Scottie Scheffler's tee shot and putting game went horribly wrong, Sunday

'Is Scottie Scheffler the worst putter for a superstar we've ever seen?' someone asked on X.

'I'm a big Scottie Scheffler guy,' another person said on the social media platform owned by Elon Musk. 'He has no weakness tee to green. Neither does Xander Schauffele. But Xander is a better putter.'

A different individual wrote along the same lines: 'If Scottie Scheffler could putt, I'm not sure anyone would ever win.'

Scottie looked frustrated after the final round, as cameras caught him with his eyes closed

I’m a big Scottie Scheffler guy. He has no weaknesses tee to green. Neither does Xander Schauffele. But Xander is a better putter. Now he is winning tournaments. Wouldn’t be shocked to see him overtake Scottie as No. 1 in the next two years.

By the end of the Open, Scheffler ranked seventh, tied with S.J. m, of South Korea, and Jon Rahm, of Spain.

The American was 1 over par in the fourth (final) round and -1 total.

Scheffler is now expected to compete at the 3M Open in Blaine, Minnesota (July 25-28) and the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina (August 8-11).

The FedEx St. Jude and BMW Championships ($20million purse, each) will then take place from August 15-18 and August 22-25, respectively.
