CCTV footage has captured the dramatic moment a cyclist is almost flattened by a train after attempting to cycle over the railway tracks.
The law-breaking biker ignored the lowered barriers and warning signs and pedaled straight through onto the tracks in Oud-Heverlee, Belgium, last Thursday.
He missed the oncoming train by mere inches, while the front wheel of his bike was squashed underneath the train and sent flying.

The cyclist was knocked backwards and appeared shaken by the crash.
He was seen hobbling back to the tracks, clutching his right leg, and gathering the shattered remains of his bicycle. The video shows the train stopped after the crash.
A driver in a car, who stopped behind the barriers on the opposite side of the tracks, could be seen interacting with the cyclist at the end of the clip.

Local media reports said that train traffic between Waver and Sint-Joris-Weert was disrupted by the crash.
Paramedics treated the unnamed cyclist at the scene but it is unclear if he needed hospital treatment.
