This is the shocking moment a thug brazenly wields a machete outside an east London DLR station while riding a bicycle, narrowly missing cars and bystanders as he waves the huge blade in the street.

Police were called to Island Gardens DLR station this afternoon after people reported a 'group of males' fighting, some of whom were thought to be carrying knives.

Shocking footage posted to X shows a man, dressed in black, riding the bike on a busy road in east London.

The thug nearly hits a passing car as he cycles into the middle of the road.

The man then takes out the long blade as he continues to ride the bicycle with one hand.

He then heads towards another man, who is cycling on the pavement in front of the DLR station, and the duo circle the area as cars continue to drive past.

Another male is later seen riding a bike as shocked bystanders watch on.

At one point, a woman, driving a baby in a pushchair, walks towards the road from the station just yards away from the machete-wielding man.

A police spokesperson said: 'Police were called at 15:10hrs on Friday, 19 April to reports of a group of males fighting - some armed with knives - in Manchester Road E14.

'Officers responded immediately and scoured the area for those involved but there was no trace.

'There were no reports of any injuries.

'Officers are aware of the video in circulation and further enquiries are ongoing.'

This comes after knife attacks took place at Beckenham Station and Kennington Underground Station within hours of each other.

Terrifying footage shared on social media showed a man wielding a large knife on board a Southeastern train shortly before 4pm on March 28 as he stood over another man as horrified passengers looked on - before the attacker fled the scene.

And shortly after 10.30pm in Kennington, south London, emergency services were called to the Tube station after receiving reports of passengers being stabbed on the station platform - including one who sought to step in to help.

The attack in Kennington came hours after an incident on board a moving Southeastern train as a man stabbed another man with a large knife (pictured)

The alleged attacker was then seen walking along the street with a large blade in his hand as he fled the scene

The British Transport Police (BTP) said it does not believe the incidents, which happened six hours and eight miles apart, are linked.

A man in his 30s has since been arrested in relation to the Kennington attack.

Rakeem Thomas, 19, was charged with attempted murder following a police investigation into the Beckenham train incident.
