Southampton and Leicester City are showing an interest in Slovenia international midfielder Timi Max Elsnik.

The 26-year old, who started out at Derby County, has been starring for Olimpija Ljubljana and his form earned him a starting spot in Slovenia's Euro 2024 squad.

He was part of the side that thwarted England in their goalless draw last week and was named in the Euros' Team of Group Stage Matchday Two following his performance in Slovenia's 1-1 draw with Serbia.

Elsnick will be key once again as his country take on Portugal on Monday.

Lazio and Lyon are also interested in Elsnick but the £5.5million asking price has alerted Premier League sides Leicester City and Southampton as they look to strengthen their squads ahead of their top flight return.

Southampton, meanwhile, are signing Burnley defender Charlie Taylor as a free agent.
