Queensland premier Steven Miles has caused a stir on social media after sharing a video of himself making a sandwich and using his fingers to break open the bun.

In a video shared to his Instagram account on Monday, Mr Miles addressed how the state government was investing in Queensland schools.

'Schools have changed a lot since I was a student at Petrie State School,' Mr Miles captioned the post.

The father-of-four donned a Maroons jersey - ahead of Wednesday night's Origin round three clash - while making ham and salad rolls for his children's lunches.

While preparing the snack, Mr Miles discussed different initiatives being introduced in schools including mental health services, free period products and working psychologists and GPs on school grounds.

However, social media users did not pay much attention to the premier's positive message, with some distracted by his muscular physique.

'Have you seen his forearms? He can protect our state,' one person commented.

One person listed 'huge biceps' in a list of five reasons why Mr Miles should be re-elected as premier.

Others were left less than impressed with the way Mr Miles prepared the sandwich - with the premier grabbing the bread roll with both hands and ripping it open with his fingers instead of using a knife.

'Love all your posts, and this has to be the most controversial cause it looks like you've never made a sandwich with a bun before *parts bun with his bare hands, off the cutting board, and everything,' one wrote.

'Use a knife to cut the bread open. Brus I heard it works a treat,' a second person commented.

'Who wants them crusty fingers in a ham sammy mate? Absolutely no one,' a third person chimed.

Mr Miles said he visited Dr Megan at Heatley Secondary College in Townsville last week.

He explained Dr Megan was one of 50 GPs working at a school as part of the state's expanding healthcare service for students.

'We're expanding those mental health services, we have psychologists in some schools now and we also have free period products in a lot of schools,' Mr Miles said.

Mr Miles added the state was expanding its school breakfast and lunch programs to ensure children are 'well fed' to aid their learning and improve their behaviour.

'We're going to keep investing more and more into our state schools cause they are just so important for our state's future.

'While I'm at it can I give a shoutout to all the fantastic teachers out there. They do such an incredible and such an important job.'

Since becoming premier, Mr Miles has tried to revive the government's flagging fortunes with a range of policy announcements and a continual stream of social media posts starring himself.

He has made a habit of delivering political monologues while making his children's lunches in social media posts along with sharing plenty of photos and videos of him out and about in Queensland.
