NSW State of Origin stars have been caught in a terribly off-key performance of a beery footy song as they launched into wild celebrations after their record-breaking thrashing of Queensland on Wednesday night.

The Blues crushed the Maroons to open up Origin's biggest ever halftime lead of 34-0 at the MCG - then proved that while they can play outstanding football, they can't sing to save their lives.

Led by winger Brian To'o banging on the lid of an esky, the team sang the famous old jingle used by one of their sponsors, Tooheys New beer.

Stars including debutant Dylan Edwards, prop Payne Haas, centre Latrell Mitchell, halfback Mitchell Moses, utility Connor Watson and backrower Angus Crichton absolutely murder the famous tune

The Blues stars appear to be spraying more beer than they drink in the clip, with Angus Crichton the main offender on that front.

Tooheys' famous commercial has made a comeback of sorts with a new TV commercial after being a staple of Aussie drinking culture in the 1980s.

Back then it featured in Tooheys ads based around Aussie sports stars from rugby league, cricket, soccer, horse racing and surfing.

In case you can't make it out due to the Blues' shocking lack of vocal skills, the jingle goes: 'I feel like a Tooheys / I feel like a Tooheys / I feel like a Tooheys / I feel like a Tooheys or two / 'I feel like a Tooheys / I feel like a Tooheys / I feel like a Tooheys / I feel like a Tooheys draught brew'.

Blues winger Brian To'o (kneeling, centre) led the awful performance of a cult footy beer song after NSW hammered Queensland on Wednesday night

Other stars including (left to right) Mitchell Moses, Haumole Olakau'atu, Payne Haas, Dylan Edwards and Latrell Mitchell got in on the action in the dressing room and proved they will never, ever get a run on Australian Idol

The original tune was written by Allan Johnston and Alan Morris in 1979 for their famous MoJo agency, which was responsible for other cult commercials like Paul Hogan's famous 'put another shrimp on the barbie' effort for the Australian Tourism Commission and the 'Come on Aussie, come on' hit to spruik Kerry Packer's World Series Cricket.

Last year the Tooheys jingle resurfaced in a new ad that breaks with tradition by depicting a fictional footy team celebrating a win, instead of the real game footage that was used back in the 1980s.

The wild scenes in the sheds at the MCG came after the Blues set up a hotly anticipated decider in game three by putting the Maroons to the sword in stunning fashion.

The Blues were singing the Tooheys jingle that was a staple of Aussie drinking culture thanks to a series of wildly popular ads in the 1980s (pictured)

After being drubbed in game one when they had to play a man down for 72 minutes after Joseph Sua'ali'i knocked out Reece Walsh, coach Michael Maguire's team were devastating as they set a first-half scoring record through tries to Liam Martin, Zac Lomax, To'o and Mitchell.

Edwards was caught in another funny post-game moment in the sheds, also involving Tooheys, as he was spotted resting his can of beer on his young daughter's head during the celebrations.

The incident left Channel Nine commentators James Bracey and Brad Fittler in stitches after the Panthers fullback scored a second-half try and had a blinder in his long-awaited first match for his state.

Game three will kick off at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on July 17, with the bookies making Queensland narrow favourites over the Blues despite the result in Melbourne.
