Dale 'Daisy' Thomas has done a lot in his lifetime, he is an AFL champion, a children's book author and now he has rescued a St Kilda fan from the wrath of his girlfriend by giving him his pants.
The former Carlton star and Collingwood champion and I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! contestant happened to be in the right place at the right time for the lucky Saints supporter at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.
The man had travelled from Perth with his girlfriend to watch the Saints' nailbiting win over the Gold Coast Suns, but his choice of attire landed him in the doghouse - until Daisy arrived to save the day.
'I've just pulled up to Marvel Stadium and my boy here is trying to get into the Medallion Club,' he said in a video filmed in a public bathroom at the stadium.
'He's rocked up deadly in his trakkie pants, so we're going to pants swap. The people's champ strikes again!'
Thomas spotted the fan in a lift and came to his rescue by swapping pants with him
The fan had arrived at Marvel Stadium wearing St Kilda trackpants, which meant he couldn't access the Medallion Club
Daisy elaborated on why he swapped pants with the Saints fan later on radio network Triple M.
'I traded some jeans for a St Kilda set of trakkie daks,' he said.
'Because the young gentleman had come over from Perth, I was about to get out of the lift and he was about to get into the lift, and he had been questioned by his missus as to why he wore trakkie pants when she told him not to.
'They were St Kilda [supporters] and they were going to the Medallion Club, they couldn't because he didn't have the right dress code.'
Thomas and the Saints fan swapped numbers so they could catch up later and swap pants back
The Medallion Club at Marvel Stadium is an exclusive membership program offering premium seating and hospitality options for fans attending events at the stadium.
Members enjoy luxurious amenities such as access to private dining areas, bars, and lounges, reserved seating with excellent views of the action, priority ticketing for major events, and exclusive networking opportunities.
But because the fan had worn his team's trackpants, he had been denied entry.
'So I said come with me mate, I'll trade you my jeans for your St Kilda trakkie daks ... I gave him me pants,' Daisy said.
'Spent the rest of the night in his.'
In another act of generosity, Daisy gave the fan his phone number so the two could catch up for a yarn later and swap their pants back.
'We're going to catch up, he's going to buy me a beer and swap the pants back.'
