Olympians representing Australia in Paris will be provided with Vegemite spread as well as three baristas, in an effort to maximise performance.

The revelation was made by Anna Meares, the team's Chef de Mission for the Games, with around 460 Aussies expected to represent their nation in Paris.

Meares says those athletes will receive a high level of support at the Athletes' Village, with home comforts made available.

The stars will be treated to a dedicated gym, as well as exclusive access to a pantry of delicacies including the yeast spread synonymous with the nation, plus a ready supply of coffee.

Australia is also putting air conditioning units in each bedroom, with organisers unable to provide them on sustainability grounds.

Approximately 460 athletes will travel from Australia to Paris for the major event

'At the end of the day, we and the organising committee have our own sustainability targets,' the former cyclist said.

'It's a measure that we feel we have to provide our athletes for performance.'

The Aussies will also provide protective treatment for those competing in the River Seine waters in Paris, and are leaving the final decision as to whether they take the plunge to the athletes.

The French have promised to clear the Paris waterway of pollutants sufficiently to safely stage the marathon swimming and the swimming leg of the triathlon during the Games.

Meares says she has faith in the organisers to deal with the matter of water safety.

'It's not a point of us stepping in to say 'we will not let you swim'. Ultimately it's the choice of the athlete,' Meares explained.

'We're not going to put any athlete in an environment that risks their wellbeing, that information will be given to them and that choice will ultimately be theirs.

'Try standing in front of an Olympian who's trained for their whole life when they have the chance to swim and ... tell them 'no'. It's not going to happen.'
