Three-year-old boy is killed in Rockhampton Showgrounds accident

A three-year-old boy has been killed in a tragic accident involving a vehicle.

The child was found in a critical condition at Rockhampton Showgrounds on Exhibition Road, in central Queensland, at around 4.30pm on Tuesday.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics attempted to treat him at the scene but he was unable to be saved.

A woman in her 40s was transported to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.

A QAS spokesman said the woman didn't appear to have suffered any injuries. She has since been discharged.

The tragedy comes a week before the start of the Rockhampton Agricultural Show.

The circumstances of the child's death are not clear.
