Tom Brady had a pre-race FaceTime exchange with Williams Racing's Logan Sargeant ahead of Saturday's Las Vegas Grand Prix after apparently bailing on the event to enjoy some water sports in South Florida.

'Hi Tom, how's it going?' Sargeant says in the video posted on Williams' X account page. 'I heard you were meant to be with us here in Vegas, but we'll do you proud.'

Without revealing the reason for his absence, the smiling Brady wished Sargeant luck on Saturday.

'Unfortunately I just couldn't make it, but I'm definitely going to be watching and pulling for you, my man,' Brady said. 'You had a great qualifying and I know you're ready to go.'

Brady was pictured Saturday riding around his new Miami Beach home on a jet board, which is basically a motorized surfboard that doesn't require waves or even a real current.

'We had a good day as a team,' Sargeant told Brady. 'Bit more teamwork today, and hopefully bring home some good points.'

When asked by Brady if he's excited for F1's return to Vegas, Sargeant explained that he raced karts in the city as a child.

'To come back, do it in an F1 car down the Strip is insane,' Sargeant said. 'And as the track is getting more and more grip on it, it's just becoming more and more fun to drive. So it's been awesome.'

'Yeah amazing,' Brady responded. 'I know this is a huge race for you, big, kind of milestone moment for you in your career.

'Take it all in, my man. You don't get this too often. I know you got a big, bright future ahead. Make the most of it, and just go kick some ass. Enjoy it. Give it your best shot, and whatever happens, you just got to learn from it.'

Sargeant signed off by telling Brady: 'We need to get you out to one of these Grands Prix one day.'

Brady assured the 22-year-old driver, 'believe me, I'm gonna be there.'
