Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady named Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen as his pick for the next signal caller to win his first Super Bowl.
Allen has never played in a Super Bowl. His time as the Bills starting quarterback has come with a lot of success. Buffalo has been to five straight postseasons and won the AFC East each of the last four years.
Yet, Brady warns of Patrick Mahomes being in Allen's way of winning a Super Bowl, as the Kansas City Chiefs have eliminated the Bills from the postseason three of the last four years.
Each of the last three seasons have ended for Buffalo in the AFC Divisional round as part of the NFL's final eight teams last standing.
The closest Allen has gotten to a Super Bowl was the 2020 season. Kansas City defeated Buffalo 38-24 in the AFC Championship game to end the 27-year-old's championship dreams.
Allen was named by Brady as the next quarterback to win a Super Bowl that hasn't already
Brady won seven Super Bowls in his time in the NFL with the Patriots and Buccaneers
'I like Josh Allen a lot,' Brady said on the DeepCut Podcast of who would be the next first-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
'I'd pick Josh. I like Josh a lot as a guy, as a leader. But, you know, he's got to get past the Chiefs and that's hard because Patrick's incredible in the way he leads that team,' Brady added.
The Allen-Mahomes rivalry also produced the January 2022 instant classic that prompted the NFL to change its overtime rules for the playoffs, allowing each team at least one possession without a time limit.
The latest matchup between Mahomes and Allen was this past season, when the Chiefs defeated the Bills in the Divisional round in Buffalo with Taylor Swift in attendance.
Allen himself has made headlines for his celebrity girlfriend, Oscar-nominated actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld.
