Rep. Jamie Raskin, one of Joe Biden's biggest defenders in Congress, said Democrats are having 'serious conversations' behind the scenes about whether or not the current president would be at the top of the Democratic ticket in November.

The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee said there was a 'big problem with Joe Biden's debate performance' but also 'a tremendous reservoir of love for Joe Biden in our party, so this makes it a difficult situation.'

Raskin, D-Md., went on: We’re having a serious conversation about what to do. One thing I can tell you is that regardless of what President Biden decides, our party is going to be unified.'

'And so whether he's the candidate or someone else is the candidate, he is going to be the keynote speaker at our convention, he will be the figure that we rally around to move forward and beat the forces of authoritarianism and reaction in the country.'

Raskin has been Biden's top attack dog in Capitol Hill as he's countered Oversight Chair James Comer's impeachment inquiry and the demands for audio tapes from Biden's special counsel interview. He has almost never shown any daylight between himself and Biden.

Days ago, the New York Times editorial board called on Biden to 'serve his country' and drop out of the race. Biden spent the weekend back at Camp David and plans to head back to the White House on Monday.

The Democratic finger-pointing began immediately after the Thursday night debate where Biden at moments struggled to get his words out and veered off into unintelligible rambling

Republicans accused First Lady Jill Biden, 73, of 'elder abuse'  as Democratic insiders insist the only one Biden, 81, would listen to about the matter would be his wife of 50 years.

But the Biden family reportedly believes it's Biden's top advisers who are at fault for not adequately preparing for the evening. The Biden team had spent nearly a week hunkered down at Camp David prepping the president for the debate.

Biden reportedly already had crisis talks with former President Barack Obama and his former White House Chief of Staff after the debate.

But top Democratic Party leaders, including Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, are still offering public support for Biden despite reports of a different tune behind the scenes.

Some donors skipped Biden's $250,000-per-head Hamptons fundraiser at hedge fund manager Barry Rosenstein's 18-acre beach estate this weekend after his car-crash debate performance.

'Lots of people are blaming his wife… for not telling him [to step aside],' one told the New York Post.
