Transgaz’s director urges Romanian and Turkish companies to focus on Africa

7 months ago 27

Romanian companies should explore global opportunities, especially in Africa, where cooperation with Turkish companies could be fruitful, according to  Ion Sterian, General Director of Transgaz, Romania’s national gas transport company.

Sterian made the comments on Friday at the Black Sea-Podisor pipeline project launch, which is linked to the Neptune Deep operation. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz also attended the event.

”I see emerging opportunities for Romanian companies on the global stage, particularly in Africa, where collaboration with Turkish counterparts could be mutually beneficial”, said Sterian, as reported by Agerpres.

The Transgaz chief added that he had recently been to Nigeria, a country where there is “a lot of work” and which is waiting for investors.

He highlighted Romania’s unprecedented rate of investment implementation and praised the efficiency of Turkish companies, citing Kalyon as a prime example. “We see Kalyon as a strategic partner in our global economic expansion,” he added.

The Tuzla-Podisor gas pipeline project, valued at approximately €500 million, involves the construction of a 308.3-kilometre-long natural gas transmission pipeline.

It will connect natural gas resources from the Neptun Deep area to the BRUA corridor, facilitating natural gas transportation through existing connections.

In June 2023, Transgaz signed a contract with the Turkish company Kalyon Insaat Sanayi Ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi to execute the Tuzla-Podisor gas pipeline project.
