Travis Kelce has been slammed by Skip Bayless for interviewing with The Wall Street Journal about Taylor Swift before the Chiefs' loss to the Eagles, saying the tight-end looked 'semi-retired' in the Super Bowl rematch from earlier this year.

The outspoken host of Undisputed on Fox Sports said on Tuesday: '[The Chiefs] are the favourites to get to the Super Bowl, win the Super Bowl this year, and I thought it sent a bit of a wrong message to his teammates that ''I'm thinking about hanging them up and I have a new force in my life.''

'And I'm just quoting him in this story because I don't know what's going on with him and Taylor Swift... but it sounds like she's a really big deal to him and he is in awe of her and no problem with that.

'But all of a sudden at midseason when you have a chance to be very good you're saying, ''You know what, I just can't take this anymore, all the aches and pains.''

'I've never heard any of that from... and again, I've covered a lot of great players and usually, they even at age 34, they're not going to to just spill about this in the middle of the football season because it's the wrong place wrong time for your locker room.'

Travis Kelce's been told by Skip Bayless that talks of retiring come at the wrong place and time

Bayless also insisted that Kelce is more motivated to play well when Taylor Swift is at games

Bayless then warned Kelce that his comments can come back and haunt him in the Chiefs locker room, as the regular season comes to an end in less than two months time, on January 7.

'It's like we're out out here giving up our bodies and you don't feel like it anymore?' said the 73-year-old, referring to Chiefs players' potential mindset in the upcoming weeks after Kelce told The Journal about the wears and tears all over his body and taking them into consideration regarding his retirement plans.

'And what got me about this article that came out this week ahead of this game, obviously. But [Kelce] looked like he was semi-retired last night. He did not look like he was moving well...

'And I've seen him earlier this year in various games looked pretty much like Travis Kelce because I looked up a couple of these numbers,' added Bayless.

Indeed, to Bayless' point, Kelce caught nine out of nine passes for 124 yards on Oct. 12 in a 19-8 win over the Denver Broncos. The week after vs. the L.A. Chargers, he was on the receiving end of 12 of 13 targets for 179 yards. But, in a second game against the Broncos on Oct. 29, a 24-9 loss, the eight-time Pro Bowler caught six of nine passes for only 58 yards.

Kelce caught seven of nine passes for only 44 yards and a touchdown in MNF's loss to Philly

In the NFL Germany game against the Miami Dolphins, Kelce snatched three of four passes a mere 14 yards. What's more, is that he had no touchdowns in either of those last two aforementioned matchups, before collecting seven of nine targets for a scant 44 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's home loss to the Eagles.

'We've seen when Taylor does come to the game he just seems to play with more life and he's more inspired than usual,' said of Kelce's inconsistency, as of late. Bayless also questioned whether Swift was 'stagey and fake' in the past over her relationship with Kelce.

'He did not look inspired last night. He looked like he was running in mud to me. And again, did they triple [up on him], sure, everybody does that... Players have been trying to take him away from [Patrick Mahomes] for several years.

'But you have the quarterback of your dreams... and obviously Patrick is just really entering his pride. And you would think like you would just keep those thoughts to yourself to get through this year and maximize whatever your legacy is going to be.

'And all of a sudden you now have the girl of your dreams and it seems like to Keysahwn's point, he has one foot in and one foot out... that's a dangerous game to play...'
