Two youths have been branded 'idiots' after they were captured on video hitching a free ride on a London bus by clinging on to the back.

A motorbike caught the foolish act on camera while following the bus in Camden, north London on June 6.

The speedometer on the bike shows that the boys managed to cling to the red double decker at speeds of up to 19mph.

They held on for around 22 seconds as the bus motored down the busy high street packed with other road users.

The Number 31 bus is a popular route between Camden High Street and White City.

One boy was wearing dark trousers and a blue coat with a black rucksack while the other was in grey joggers, a hoodie and a black jacket.

The daring teenagers have been criticised on social media.

Christine Ring, a local to the area, said: 'Idiots.'

Morris added: 'And then they would say it wasn't their fault if they fell off and were crushed. Mental.'

Adam said: 'London was never like this before.'

Another said: 'If they fell off, they'd have some crooked law firm wanting to get them compensation for their injuries.'

Errol Austin joked: 'I hope they tapped in?'

One social media user added: 'Camden life.'

But another said: 'Me and my mates used to hang off a milk float.

'It's down to them lads to hold on tight, they took the challenge.'

The Met Police has been approached for comment.

The footage comes days after another teenager was filmed clinging to the back of a London double-decker bus while wearing flip-flops.

The young man desperately tried to hold on as the bus motored down Lansbury Drive in Hayes, West London on June 3.

But he eventually lost his grip, managing to stay on his feet as he landed on the road.

The youth - whose age is unknown- then ran off as the bus was about to pull in at a packed bus stop.
