Two Premier League stars lead the way after thrilling Champions League quarter-final matches - with one former Leeds player rated the best of the bunch... but who else features in Sofascore's Best XI of the round?

After weeks of anticipation, the Champions League came back with a bang for their action packed quarter-final fixtures.

With 18 goals from just four matches, fans across Europe were treated to a handful of thrilling games, ranging from Arsenal's draw with Bayern to Barcelona's comeback at PSG

It was a difficult night for both Arsenal and their title rivals Manchester City, who were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw with Spanish giants Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in the final fixture from the gameweek, Atletico Madrid triumphed 2-1 over Borussia Dortmund in their clash at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Here, Mail Sport takes a look at the Best XI from the quarter-finals, kindly provided by SofaScore.

Manchester City secured a 3-3 draw with Real Madrid in the first-leg of their quarter-final tie

Meanwhile, Arsenal left it late to earn a draw with Bayern Munich in their clash on Tuesday

Gregor Kobel - 8.1 (PSG, goalkeeper)

With 18 goals scored across just four Champions League quarter-final fixtures, it's hard to argue a case for most goalkeepers making it into the 'Best XI' team.

However, Borussia Dortmund's Gregor Kobel can rest assured that his performance at the Metropolitano Stadium will not go unnoticed.

The Switzerland international made seven saves against the Spanish outfit and kept his side in the match as they looked to secure a dramatic equaliser.

In total, Kobel has prevented the most goals in the Champions League this season out of any goalkeeper in the competition.

Ronald Araujo - 7.1 (Barcelona, defender)

During the five-goal thriller at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday - where Barcelona triumphed 3-2 over PSG - Ronald Araujo put in a stellar defensive performance.

The Uruguayan international marshalled the defence - which had looked shaky after PSG turned the game on it's head within three minutes of the second-half - to help guide them to victory.

With the inexperienced Pau Cubarsi by his side, Araujo was a calming presence in the defence that helped kick-start their comeback in the second-half.

Andreas Christensen - 7.5 (Barcelona, defender)

The former Chelsea centre-back had a monumental impact on the quarter-final clash in Paris, as he came on to score the winning goal for Xavi's side.

The Danish international needed just two minutes to help restore Barcelona's lead on the night, as he rose highest to head home from a corner.

There were question marks over Gianluigi Donnarumma's role in the goal, with many suggesting he should've claimed the cross, but Christensen won't mind at all.

Josko Gvardiol - 7.8 (Manchester City, defender)

When Manchester City splashed out £78million for Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol, it was not with the expectation that he'd score screamers in the Champions League.

However, on Tuesday night, that's exactly what occurred as the City star smashed an effort from the edge of the box into the Real Madrid net to give his side the lead.

After the ball was set back to him by Jack Grealish, Gvardiol tee'd himself up - on his weaker right foot - before smacking the ball into the net with a sweet strike.

It was a goal worthy of winning any fixture but, unfortunately for the Croatian, Federico Valverde struck late on to salvage a draw for the hosts.

Leon Goretzka - 7.7 (Bayern Munich, midfielder)

Much had been made of the midfield battle between Bayern's Leon Goretzka and Arsenal's Declan Rice ahead of their clash and it's fair to say the German came out on top.

Goretzka bossed the middle of the pitch during their visit to the Emirates on Tuesday and epitomised his performance with a fantastic assist for Serge Gnabry's strike.

The German made a lung-busting run from midfield, which left Rice in his dust, before sliding the ball to Gnabry who levelled the scoring in the first-half.

Goretzka continued to dominate proceedings throughout the clash and was unlucky to watch on as the defence were undone by a late Leandro Trossard strike.

Pedri - 7.6 (Barcelona, midfielder)

Similarly to his team-mate Christensen, Barcelona star Pedri had an immediate impact after entering the fray against PSG on Wednesday night.

The Spain international needed just one minute to make his mark as he floated a delicate pass over the defence and into the path of Raphinha, who volleyed home.

He went on to complete 100 per cent of his passes in the match (17 out of 17) as he helped inspire the comeback at the Parc des Princes.

Vitinha - 8.5 (PSG, midfielder)

The Portuguese international had a stellar performance in the middle of the park for PSG and was well deserving of his goal in the match.

Vitinha scored within the opening five minutes of the second-half after smashing in a close range effort that left Marc-Andre ter Stegen flailing.

Raphinha - 8.9 (Barcelona, midfielder)

The best player in this round of fixtures, according to SofaScore's ratings.

The former Leeds winger bagged a brace at the Parc des Princes, including one finely taken volley that left Gianluigi Donnarumma scrambling.

He latched on to Pedri's pass, as he bursted through the Parisian defence, before unleashing a sumptuous strike into the back of the net.

Rodrygo - 7.7 (Real Madrid, midfielder)

The Brazilian was a menace down the left-hand side throughout Madrid's clash with City and did well to find the back of the net after a marauding run down the wing.

Rodrygo weaved through City's defenders before slotting a neat effort past Stefan Ortega to give Madrid the lead, at the time.

He proved a nuisance throughout and was unlucky not to leave with a brace.

Gabriel Jesus - 7.7 (Arsenal, striker)

Though his cameo against Bayern Munich was brief, Gabriel Jesus managed to have a monumental impact.

The former Manchester City striker was brought on in the 66th minute and, just ten minutes later, picked up the assist for Arsenal's all-important equaliser.

He chopped his way past Bayern's Matthijs de Ligt before laying the ball off for Leandro Trossard, who slotted the ball into the net.

Antoine Griezmann - 8.4 (Atletico Madrid, striker)

The Atletico Madrid talisman was in unstoppable form for the clash with Borussia Dortmund, as he adopted a hybrid role in attack.

The Frenchman, as well as posing a direct threat to goal himself, sprayed a number of inviting balls across the pitch as he helped create numerous chances for team-mates.

He ended the night with one assist after playing a delightful ball into Samuel Dias Lino, who made no mistake in burying his effort.
