Rishi Sunak has pledged to scrap 'rip-off' degrees under new plans to fund 100,000 new apprenticeships for young people.

The Prime Minister, who will be campaigning in the south west today, said one in eight so called Mickey Mouse courses could be scrapped to help pay for the scheme.

Meanwhile Labour has promised to meet an 18-week treatment target for NHS patients in England within five years.

But Sir Keir Starmer will doubtless face questions over whether veteran MP Diane Abbott will stand as a Labour candidate in the election after she was readmitted to the party yesterday.
