The final Champions League group stage as we know it is now done and dusted – and those good enough to reach the knockout stages will soon learn their fate of who they're facing in the round of 16.
It was heartbreak for Newcastle who finished bottom of their group following a 2-1 defeat by AC Milan on Wednesday, with Borussia Dortmund and PSG advancing from their group.
Reigning European champions Manchester City cruised to a flawless six wins out of six, with RB Leipzig joining them in the next round.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Bayern Munich were among Europe's elite that also advanced while there are a few surprise packages in PSV and Copenhagen. But what can we expect of the draw and the teams in the last 16?
Here, Mail Sport has the lowdown on each of the sides involved in the draw, which will begin at 11am UK time, and details their key players and danger ratings.
Manchester City are out to defend their very first Champions League crown this season
SEEDED TEAMS
MANCHESTER CITY
City's barren streak in the biggest club competition of them all was finally brought to an end last season.
It was far from easy, with Inter Milan putting up a superb fight in the final, but City got the job done courtesy of Rodri's second-half winner.
How to follow the draw
The Champions League last-16 draw in Nyon, Switzerland takes place on Monday morning, getting under way from 11am GMT.
TNT Sports will have live coverage and you can also follow it all with Mail Sport's live blog or on UEFA's website.
They cruised through the first round, having topped their tricky group, and went on to beat RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid on their way to the final hurdle in Istanbul.
Their hard-fought triumphs over Bayern and Madrid showcased their ever-growing pedigree on the European stage and the trophy secured them the Treble.
ONE TO WATCH - ERLING HAALAND
Who else? This Terminator-like striker is unstoppable even on his worst days and his lethal finishing provided an extra dimension to City's arsenal last year.
He's been in fine form again this campaign, scoring five goals in the five group stage games he's been involved in but did pick up an injury earlier this month which could see him spend some time out.
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Flawless. Six wins out of six - what more could you ask for? The Treble winners became the second English club after Liverpool (2021-22) to win all six of their group stage games in a Champions League campaign.
DANGER RATING - 5/5
City were flawless in the group stages, winning all six games to secure their last-16 spot
BARCELONA
Heavyweights Barcelona won LaLiga last year, their first league title since 2019, but the first half to the 2023-24 campaign hasn't gone as they hoped.
They're currently fourth in LaLiga, seven points adrift of surprise leaders Girona, and nearly made a hash of the group stage this time round.
Their downturn in form have been worrying to say the least, given the Catalan giants went from conceding just nine goals over 30 league games last season to conceding the same amount in a fortnight.
However, they're in the knockout stages for the first time in three seasons and there's plenty to play for this season.
ONE TO WATCH - ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI
If there is anyone who has been there, done it and grabbed the Champions League T-shirt, it's the aging but still just as lethal Lewandowski.
The striker joined last summer from Bayern Munich and scored 33 goals across all competitions, including five in five matches in Europe.
He's yet to get going in the competition this time round, netting just once in the five group games he was involved in but has managed eight in 14 LaLiga games.
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
They made it hard for themselves but managed to get over the line and finish as group winners. Xavi's side won four out of six but did fall to a 3-2 defeat by Royal Antwerp in their final group game. They're not exactly striking fear into their opponents as it stands.
DANGER RATING - 3/5
Barcelona made life hard for themselves in the group stages but still secured top spot
BAYERN MUNICH
Things haven't quite gone to plan in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich so far as they trail Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen by four points, albeit having played one fewer games.
However, the German giants have flown in the group stages and are one of the favourites to go all the way in the competition under Thomas Tuchel.
They'll just be hoping to avoid the big-hitting unseeded teams once the draw comes out.
ONE TO WATCH - HARRY KANE
What an unbelievable start Harry Kane has had to life at the Allianz Arena.
The England skipper has smashed several records already for Bayern and has a whopping 18 goals to his name in 13 Bundesliga games already.
He's been on fire in the Champions League, too, scoring four goals in six group games. If Bayern are to go far, it will be down to Kane keeping up this ridiculous form in front of goal.
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
As expected in a group with Copenhagen, Galatasaray and Manchester United. While many may have thought United would've secured second in the group, it wasn't to be due to their dismal form which allowed Bayern to storm to five wins and one draw.
DANGER RATING - 4/5
Harry Kane has enjoyed a brilliant start to life at Bayern and will be crucial to their success
ARSENAL
After a lengthy six-year wait, Arsenal can finally relish the prospect of competing in the Champions League knockout stages once again.
Mikel Arteta will be eager to bring an end to his side's woes in Europe and has strengthened effectively this summer in a bid to bring about more competition.
Indeed, Declan Rice has looked like the signing of the summer after his £100million arrival and will be hoping to guide them to European glory after a strong group stage. However, with a strong squad at his disposal, Arteta is under pressure to perform.
ONE TO WATCH - BUKAYO SAKA
A winger of Saka's quality is deserving of plying his trade at the very top of the sport and this season, he has done just that.
He extended his contract earlier this year and is clearly targeting the biggest trophies. He has been in a rich vein of form and has helped guide the Gunners to the last-16.
While many have shone in this Arsenal squad already this year, Saka will be the one to keep an eye out for going forward.
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Arsenal comfortably secured top spot in their group, with PSV getting the second place ahead of Lens and Sevilla.
The Gunners' progression to the last-16 was widely expected so while they stayed professional and got the job done, it was the outcome most predicted.
DANGER RATING - 4/5
Arsenal comfortably secured top spot in Group B and are predicted to go far in Europe
REAL MADRID
The undisputed kings of Europe and footballing royalty, and they are unsurprisingly among the favourites to lift the jug-eared cup again this season.
In the past, when they hit their usual lofty heights, it truly felt like no team could stand in their way. This time, however, they have plenty of competition standing in their way.
This may well prove to be Carlo Ancelotti's final campaign at the helm and one last hurrah in the Champions League would be a fitting farewell for 'Don Carlo'.
ONE TO WATCH - JUDE BELLINGHAM
Harry Kane isn't the only Englishman who is lighting up his league in mainland Europe.
Some would argue that Jude Bellingham's start to life at Real Madrid has been even more impressive, given he has scored a crazy 16 goals from 19 games in all competitions... from midfield!
That includes four goals from five Champions League games and the 20-year-old is already breaking records of his own at the Bernabeu.
Jude Bellingham has been a revelation at Real Madrid since his summer move from Dortmund
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Like Man City, they stormed to a perfect group stage, winning all six games.
Ancelotti's men conceded seven times but comfortably booked their spot in the knockout stages.
Bellingham and Co will certainly be one of the teams most will want to avoid in Monday's draw.
DANGER RATING - 5/5
BORUSSIA DORTMUND
The memories from the dramatic final day showdown in the Bundesliga will surely still haunt Edin Terzic, his players and supporters even to this day.
Borussia Dortmund held their destiny and the fate of the title race in their hands but squandered it, with their home draw capitalised upon by Bayern Munich.
Terzic will have emphasised the importance of drawing a line under the saga, however, and another shot in the Champions League will lift spirits somewhat.
They are somewhat struggling in the Bundesliga and are 11 points adrift of Leverkusen after 14 games played.
ONE TO WATCH - DONYELL MALEN
Malen's performances for Dortmund are starting to grab the attention of Europe's biggest clubs.
So much so that the Dutchman is being linked with Manchester United as Erik ten Hag looks to solve his Jadon Sancho crisis by trying to engineer a swap with the German club for their speedy frontman.
He's yet to score in the Champions League this campaign but United fans will be keeping a close eye on him.
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Dortmund were placed in the proverbial 'Group of Death' but they came out on top, pipping PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle to top spot.
The group more than lived up to its billing and Dortmund showed over six games that they were not to be messed with.
However, they'll need to up their game if they are to go the distance in this season's Champions League and need a favourable draw on Monday.
DANGER RATING - 3/5
Borussia Dortmund came out on top in the 'Group of Death' to secure their spot in the last-16
ATLETICO MADRID
Last season proved to be one of Diego Simeone's most disappointing at the helm.
They clawed themselves to a third-placed finish in LaLiga despite a mixed first half of the campaign and finished just a point behind city rivals Real Madrid. They fell horribly short in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, however.
The latter proved a body blow, with their finish at the bottom of a group made up of Porto, Club Brugge and Bayer Leverkusen dropping them out of Europe entirely.
However, they've performed much better this time round and are very much in the draw for the last-16 as one of the seeded teams.
ONE TO WATCH - ANTOINE GRIEZMANN
Back at the club that first thrust him into the spotlight, Antoine Griezmann is playing with a smile on his face once again. Historically, a happy Griezmann has been an effective Griezmann, and this only bodes well for Simeone and his team-mates.
The added bonus is the fact he holds years of experience in the Champions League.
He currently has five goals in six Champions League games this season and is firing on all fronts.
Antoine Griezmann has been firing on all cylinders for Atletico Madrid this season
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Secured top spot with four wins should be what is expected of Atletico but after last season's humbling exit, it's a mark of improvement.
Still undefeated in this year's competition but have plenty of teams favoured ahead of them to win the trophy.
DANGER RATING - 3/5
REAL SOCIEDAD
A superb 2022-23 campaign that saw Real Sociedad finish fourth in LaLiga clinched a spot in the Champions League for the first time since 2013-14.
In fact, since the European Cup was reborn in its current format in 1992, Sociedad have qualified just twice - the other achievement coming in 2003-04.
And this time round they look like comfortable rubbing shoulders with Europe's elite despite their lack of experience in the Champions League.
ONE TO WATCH - MIKEL OYARZABAL
A fully-fledged Spain international, Oyarzabal is a one-club man. He has made over 280 appearances for Sociedad and scored more than 80 goals during his rich stint.
His international debut arrived in 2016 and he has not looked back since for either club or country. He is again the main driving force behind Sociedad this year.
He has two goals in six group games this season and seven in LaLiga so far.
Mikel Oyarzabal helped Real Sociedad secure top spot in Group D and become a seeded team
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Sociedad rather impressively secured top spot in their group which contains last season's finalists, Inter Milan.
They recorded three wins and three draws, the same as Inter, but walked away with a better record in head-to-head matches against the Italian side.
DANGER RATING - 2/5
UNSEEDED TEAMS
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN
The death knell for any PSG manager is failure in the Champions League and Luis Enrique will be under no illusions that the same mountain faces him this season.
He picked up the baton after Christophe Galtier was dismissed at the end of the last campaign and is trying to find a way to gel Kylian Mbappe and his unruly team-mates into a cohesive band capable of performing as a collective, rather than individuals.
Mbappe will now remain put despite his insistence that he would not sign a new contract, a stance that once again alerted Real Madrid, and they have recruited well.
ONE TO WATCH - KYLIAN MBAPPE
Capable of deciding matches single-handedly, such is his otherworldly ability, Mbappe can prove his total commitment this season by firing PSG to European glory.
Infamously, they have never won the competition but a blend of Mbappe and the star-studded forwards dotted about him will surely carry them to the latter stages.
He currently has three goals in six group games but they didn't look that convincing in the groups.
Kylian Mbappe and PSG just got into the knockout stages by the skin of their teeth
IT'S ALL KICKING OFF!
It's All Kicking Off is an exciting new podcast from Mail Sport that promises a different take on Premier League football.
It is available on MailOnline, Mail+, YouTube, Apple Music and Spotify.
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
They finished second in their group by the skin of their teeth. In fact, they were heading out during the last group stage matchday when Newcastle lead AC Milan.
However, PSG managed to secure a much-needed point against Dortmund while AC Milan staged a late comeback to beat Newcastle 2-1 and dump them out of Europe while the Italian team dropped into the Europa League due to their head-to-head record.
PSG will need to step things up if they are to challenge the likes of Man City and Real Madrid.
DANGER RATING - 3/5
NAPOLI
Fresh from securing a third Serie A title last season but losing head coach Luciano Spalletti to the Italian national team, optimism is abound at Napoli.
Rudi Garcia is the latest man at the helm and he undoubtedly has big shoes to fill, especially given Spalletti's success on both the domestic and international stages.
However, they're way off the pace in the Serie A as it stands after losing five of their 15 games which leaves them sixth and 14 points adrift of leaders Inter.
ONE TO WATCH - VICTOR OSIMHEN
A striker on the radars of countless clubs worldwide, Osimhen has continued this campaign how he finished the last - scoring goals.
His all-round ability provides his side with an invaluable sharp edge up front and this, combined with the talents of those around him, makes for a side easy on the eye.
So far, he has managed six goals in 11 Serie A games but that form if yet to translate to the European stage given he's netted once in four in the Champions League this term. He remains Napoli's danger man up top and is the one to watch out for.
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Three wins and a draw saw Napoli finish second behind Real Madrid in Group C.
It's what many would've predicted with Braga and Union Berlin in their group but the Italian side still got the job done.
DANGER RATING - 3/5
Napoli finished second in their group behind Real Madrid, amassing 10 points in six games
INTER MILAN
Simone Inzaghi may have been unable to lead Inter Milan to another Serie A title, but he deserves plenty of credit for building the foundations for future success.
There was a time that he appeared on the brink of the sack last season but he continued to work diligently and these efforts bore fruit in superb fashion, with Inter reaching the Champions League final and losing out after a heroic performance.
This year, they currently lead the race for the Serie A title, though reaching the final for a second straight year looks difficult.
They're in the draw for the last-16 but missing out on top spot in the group could come back to bite them.
ONE TO WATCH - LAUTARO MARTINEZ
One of Europe's most in-form strikers, Lautaro Martinez has got this season off to a flyer.
The 26-year-old has managed to bag 14 goals in 15 Serie A games and two in six in the Champions League.
Inter will need him to keep his goalscoring exploits up if they are to reach a second successive Champions League final.
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Inter will be disappointed to finish second in their group behind Real Sociedad.
Even more so given that it was on their head-to-head record having amassed 12 points - the same as their Spanish counterparts.
Being an unseeded team for the last-16 draw could land them a tougher draw as a result so it remains to be seen what their chances are going forward.
DANGER RATING - 4/5
Inter Milan have been flying domestically but just missed out on finishing as group winners
RB LEIPZIG
Despite looking set to challenge Bayern Munich's dominance at the top of the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig were once again forced to settle for a spot behind the league champions and also-rans Borussia Dortmund last season.
They enjoyed success in the DFB-Pokal, however, and finished as the runners-up in the DFL-Supercup, proving they can, and will, challenge for domestic trophies.
But Leipzig have struggled to replicate this in Europe, despite enjoying a number of shock past results over some of the Champions League's heavyweights.
They remain within touching distance of the Bundesliga big-hitters this season, sitting fourth in the table and seven points off the leaders.
ONE TO WATCH - LOIS OPENDA
While Dani Olmo would be the main man on most people's minds when it comes to RB Leipzig, the Spaniard has struggled with his fitness and the German side's form has been slightly hit as a result.
However, Belgian striker Lois Openda has more than filled the void following his £35m arrival earlier this summer, scoring 10 times in 14 games for Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
He also has four goals in six Champions League games this season and is already attracting interest from the Premier League after his brilliant start to life at Leizpig.
Lois Openda has settled into life at new club Leipzig superbly since his summer move
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Finishing second behind a flawless City was expected but they looked comfortable in doing so, conceding just three goals in their six games.
Leipzig won't be many people's favourites to win but the German side shouldn't be counted out just yet ahead of the last-16 draw.
DANGER RATING - 2/5
PORTO
They may have won three separate domestic trophies last season but missing out on the Primeira Liga title will have hurt Porto and head coach Sergio Conceicao.
Led expertly by renowned goal scorer Mehdi Taremi, Porto are a team capable of beating anyone on their day and they have been tipped for success again this year.
They're second in Liga Portugal at the time of writing, level on points with Sporting but behind on goal difference.
ONE TO WATCH - MEHDI TAREMI
With 31 goals to his name last season, Taremi is Porto's undisputed talisman.
He's yet to get properly up and running this season, having scored just twice in six group stage games but he's not to be slept on - even if he's not reaching his usual heights as of yet.
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
They finished level on points with Barcelona but the Catalan giants boasted a better head-to-head record which saw them finish top.
Porto will take some comfort from their showing so far but there's plenty of work to do to properly progress deep into this competition.
DANGER RATING - 2/5
Porto finished level on points with Barcelona in the group stages in what was a decent showing
LAZIO
It would be fair to say that Maurizio Sarri has settled nicely into his surroundings at Lazio after his rocky rollercoaster journeys with Chelsea and Juventus.
The club are sufficiently ambitious to match his vision for the future and his squad are hungry, making them open to his demanding tactical instructions.
However, they are yet to find any consistency in the Serie A which has seen them win six and lose six in their first 15 games.
They're currently 10th and way off the pace in challenging for the Serie A title as it stands.
ONE TO WATCH - CIRO IMMOBILE
What a storied career this man has had.
He has bounced from one to Serie A club to the next, with Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla rare exceptions, and cemented his spot as a true Lazio great.
Currently has seven goals in 21 games this season, with three of them coming in six Champions League clashes.
Ciro Immobile will be hoping to lead Lazio deep into Europe after a slow league showing
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Finishing second behind Atletico Madrid, Lazio did enough to secure their spot in the last-16.
However, their league form is a cause for concern so it would be a huge shock if they were able to put a meaningful run together and go far in Europe as it stands.
DANGER RATING - 2/5
PSV EINDHOVEN
It is 35 years since PSV won the European Cup with a penalty shootout victory over Benfica in 1988.
But this marks the first time they have made the knockout stages of the tournament since the 2018-19 campaign.
Despite losing Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke in January to Liverpool and Chelsea respectively, PSV have caused a huge shock to reach the last-16 of the tournament for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign.
ONE TO WATCH - NOA LANG
There are big hopes for the Dutch winger who has arrived from Club Brugge for a club record fee worth around £12m.
The 24-year-old, who has also played for Ajax, has helped the Dutch side secure a spot in the last-16 but has struggled with injuries up until late.
There will be hope he can overcome them to feature more prominently in the second half of the campaign.
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
Brilliantly considering they pipped Sevilla and Lens to second while also securing a 1-1 draw with Arsenal earlier this week.
Any from this stage on will be a bonus for the Dutch side.
DANGER RATING - 2/5
PSV brilliantly secured their spot in the knockout stages for the first time since 2018-19
COPENHAGEN
The Danish champions are back in the Champions League for the second season in a row and managed not one, but two wins in the groups this time round unlike last season.
Very much the underdogs and the team most will be hoping for in the last-16, Copenhagen can be thrilled with reaching the knockout stages – especially with the group they had.
ONE TO WATCH - MOHAMED ELYOUNOUSSI
A summer addition at Copenhagen after playing 37 games in all competitions last season for relegated Southampton.
He scored a crucial goal in their famous 4-3 win over Man United in the group stage and will be the man they go to in the last-16.
Copenhagen surprised everyone and pipped United and Galatasaray to second in Group A
HOW DID THEY GET ON IN THE GROUP STAGE?
What a result for Copenhagen! In a group with Bayern, United and Galatasaray, nobody would've predicted them to even finish third.
But they proved everyone wrong and sent a sorry United crashing out after amassing eight points in the groups.
DANGER RATING - 1/5
