Jayson Tatum was torched by fans after missing an open three in Team USA's match against South Sudan at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

After remaining on the bench for the Americans' opening win over Serbia, the newly-crowned NBA champion got the nod to start on Wednesday. Tatum joined LeBron James, Steph Curry, Anthony Davis, and Devin Booker against a South Sudanese squad that nearly beat them in an exhibition earlier in July.

However, early into the game, James threw a pass to Tatum for an open three before the Celtics star terribly missed and hit the side of the backboard. As a result, fans took to the comment section to flame him for the miss.

'Building a house overseas with all those bricks,' one user wrote.

'Derrick White is carrying that bum again,' another added.

'Now people will stop asking why he had no playing time in the first game,' said a third.

The mockery comes shortly after Boston's NBA Finals triumph over the Dallas Mavericks in June. After securing his first NBA title, Tatum was trolled for his cringeworthy attempts to create an iconic moment commemorating his team's victory.

Nevertheless, the Americans cruised to a dominant 103-86 win to secure a 2-0 record in group play and a quarterfinal berth.

Tatum clocked in just over 17 minutes and finished with four points, shooting two-for-four from the field. He also secured five rebounds, two assists, and a block.

Meanwhile, South Sudan's Nuni Omot led the game in scoring with 24 points.
