She has built up a loyal following of 193,000 followers on TikTok thanks to her popular content comparing and contrasting the two cultures

An American's biggest UK 'culture shocks'

  1. Highways, houses and cars are noticeably smaller in the UK
  2. There are many variations in the English accent
  3. People dress with more adaptability towards sudden rain

In the clip, which has so far been viewed 417,000 times, Andrea wasted little time as she launched straight into her list: 'One of the biggest culture shocks I got moving from California to England was how small everything was like highways, houses, cars.

'Everything, just felt a lot smaller, which isn't surprising, because I come from a place that has 10-lane freeways and giant cars.'

She continued: 'Also, pretty obviously, the accents, but I was actually more surprised at how many different English accents there were.

'I think in the US, you grow up watching films placed in England, and 99 per cent of the time, they're London or more neutral accents.

'I actually went to North Yorkshire on my first ever trip to England, so I got a huge surprise when they didn't all sound like Tom Hiddleston.'

But Andrea did not stop there.

'Lastly, is the way people dress. It really caught me off guard, because it was just slightly different to how people dress in California.

'But you can definitely tell the difference - especially in the shoes because wearing thin fabric shoes like Vans and Converse isn't as common, due to the unpredictable rain, which I actually learned the first day at university when I wore Toms, and they got absolutely soaked in the first 15 minutes of being outside.'

Most recently, she admitted to the things that had given her the biggest shocks - including her thoughts on the English accent

In the clip, Andrea wasted little time as she began: 'One of the biggest culture shocks I got moving from California to England was how small everything was like highways, houses, cars'

She humorously referenced her soaked sneakers in her video caption, in which she wrote: 'Learned the hard way in the third one,' with a laughing emoji.

Andrea's video was soon flooded with comments with many people sharing their own observations.

One person wrote: 'Everything smaller, even though London bigger than LA.'

Another commented: 'Omg the size difference is huge!! One of my friends is American and their house has two guest bedrooms, a master bedroom AND TWO ENSUITE BATHROOMS, and apparently that's AVERAGE?! All on one level.'

A third person added: 'And I got a culture shock because of how everything is big here in the states, compared to England.'

Someone else shared: 'In America at the moment, and it's crazy how big everything is.'

One commented: 'In USA for the first time as a British person. I was literally shocked how big everything was.'

Other followers divulged their thoughts on the accents and even on Andrea's accent changing during her stay in the UK.

Dozens of viewers then flooded to share their own thoughts on the key differences between the countries

One person commented: '"Didn't sound like Tom Hiddleston," yeah we're more Sean Bean/Mark Addy up here lol.'

A second person noted: 'It's crazy that you adopted the UK accent lol.'

Another wrote: 'I can literally hear a small bit of a British accent in you.'

A fourth person commented: 'WAIT. I thought you moved here from UK?!? Mind blown.'

Some followers commented on the style differences.

One person wrote: 'You'll see no end of Vans and Converse in the summer.'

Another person added: 'As a Londoner, the Converse point was one of the first things I noticed when I went to New York! Converse, tote bags and gym-wear seemed popular.'

One person suggested: 'Get a water-proofing shoe spray for wearing fabric shoes like Converse, makes a difference!!'
