President Joe Biden slammed former President Donald Trump and GOP Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene for spreading 'lies' about hurricane relief efforts.

It comes as people pick up the pieces of their lives after the devastation caused by from Hurricane Helene across the southeast as Hurricane Milton now barrels toward Florida

'I want to be clear about something. Over the last few weeks there has been a reckless, irresponsible and relentless promotion of disinformation and outright lies that are disturbing people,' Biden said speaking directly to the camera at the briefing on Wednesday.

The president said they were 'undermining confidence in the incredible rescue and recovery work that has already been taken' and will be taken. He called the disinformation harmful to those who need the help the most.

‘Former President Trump has led the onslaught of lies,’ Biden slammed the Republican presidential nominee.

President Biden slammed former President Trump and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene by name for spreading lies at a hurricane briefing  on Wednesday. He called some of the claims they are publicly making 'simply not true,' 'ridiculous' and 'harmful' to those who need help the most

The president rattled off a number of claims he said are 'simply not true' including that property is being confiscated, storm victims will receive $750 for their recovery and no more and money is being diverted for migrants.

'What a ridiculous thing to say. It's not true,' Biden went on.

Trump has made false statements about the Biden administration response to his massive social media following, in interviews and on the campaign trail at rallies. He has claimed there is not money for recovery efforts because it is going to house illegal immigrants.

President Biden pushed back on a series of false claims former President Trump has made about the hurricane recovery efforts while campaigning, in interviews and in posts online

The ex-president has also lied about Democratic officials favoring Democrats while ignoring Republican areas and claimed state officials have been unable to connect with the president.

Biden also unleashed on Greene, a close Trump ally, by name when he said the claims are getting 'even more bizarre.'

'Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene - the Congresswoman from Georgia - is now saying the federal government is literally controlling the weather. We're controlling the weather? It's beyond ridiculous. It's got to stop,’ Biden said.

The president argued 'in moments like this, there are no red or blue states.'

Biden slammed GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for her 'bizarre' claim that they can control the weather after she posted about it on X. He called it 'beyond ridiculous.'

Other Republicans have called out Greene for posting the false weather claim online.

In a press release on Tuesday, GOP Congressman Chuck Edwards of North Carolina, the state heavily impacted by Hurricane Helene, tried to debunk some of the false information being circulated.

His statement even included the line 'nobody can control the weather.'

Edwards also disputed false claims FEMA was confiscating supplies or had run out of money.

'There's one United States of America where neighbors are helping neighbors,' Biden said Tuesday. He praised volunteers and first responders for 'risking everything including their own lives to help their fellow Americans.'

FEMA has a web page to help counter false information. People are encouraged to listen to their local officials for accurate information.
