A bride has hit back at critics after her mom's dress was the center of controversy on her big day - with people accusing her of trying to upstage her own daughter.
When Sydney Marie Slavens, 28, tied the knot to her husband, Nick Slavens, on November 27, 2022 she wore a wedding dress she adored - and wanted her mom to feel just as special.
After trying on over 30 mother-of-the-bride dresses, Beverly Norberg finally landed on a beautiful light-blue strapless Nadia Manjarrez gown - instantly falling in love with it.
'My husband and son were with me in New York, and their faces lit up when they saw me,' Beverly, 55, told Today.
Beverly FaceTimed Sydney and the two knew it was the one - but after Sydney's big day, social media users raged the light-blue gown was too similar to a wedding dress.

'They hated that it "over shined" my dress but I think she’s fab!' Sydney, who is a wedding photographer, explained in a TikTok comment.
'She needed a moment,' she added.
Sydney explained how she loved that her mom's dress had texture, knowing it would photograph well.
She also quipped her mom was her 'something blue' for her big day.
Despite her adorable sentiments, the videos Sydney posted on social media were flooded with users accusing Beverly of trying to upstage her daughter - some even saying they thought she was the bride.
'People got cruel to the point where I stopped looking,' the mother-of-the-bride admitted.
'I deleted one of the videos because it got to be too much,' Sydney added.
'Was confused at first? Two brides? I think moms gown is a wedding dress. Why though?' asked one user.
