Carmen Electra, 52, was told she needed to 'LOSE weight' to look good in a swimsuit for Baywatch even though she was only a size 2

Carmen Electra was told she needed to lose weight on the set of Baywatch.

The 52-year-old actress got her big break when she was cast as Lani McKenzie in the hit action series in the late 1990s. She was in her twenties at the time.

The Playboy model would often be seen wearing a one-piece swimsuit that left little to the imagination.

But she has now revealed that bosses would tell her she was 'too heavy' for the show which also starred Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff.

However, Carmen doesn't think that she ever really needed to diet.

'I never had a weigh-in, but I was told sometimes I was too heavy!' she told Extra when talking up the show After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun.

'And I look back now and I don't think I was. They would come up to you and say, "You need to lose some pounds" or "You need to lose some weight."'

She reportedly weights 126lbs and is a size 2.

The I Want Candy star did not go into any more detail about how her body was perceived during her time on the series, which ran from 1989 until 2001.

But she did reveal that she has kept her famous red swimsuit.

She said: 'Of course! I have it framed!'

On the show she was seen in a cherry red one-piece swimsuit that had a scoop collar and rode high up on her hips.

It said Baywatch Lifeguard on front with a lifeguard shack and a sun embroidered in yellow.

The famed suit was made by TYR Women's Swimwear.

Electra also discussed making out with another actor for the show.

She did feel 'very green' about having to have one of her first on-screen kisses with David Chokachi.

'I never had a weigh-in, but I was told sometimes I was too heavy!' she told Extra when talking up the show After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun

That was because she possibly approached it in a bit of a 'tongue heavy' manner and was shocked when she watched the scene back.

Asked if she remembers any of her co-stars dating in real life, she said: 'Not that I know of, but I'm not gonna lie, though, one of my first kisses with David Chokachi.

'I was very green — we had a kissing scene and I just went in... tongue heavy!

'I think he liked it! I just didn't know! And when I watched back, I would be like, 'Oh, my God!'

Meanwhile, Chokachi regrets losing touch with Pamela Anderson.

The 53-year-old actor starred as the on-screen boyfriend of Pamela's character C.J. Parker on Baywatch but the pair stopped speaking after she moved away from Malibu and he admitted it was a 'bummer' because they were good friends.

He told Us Weekly: 'We were in touch, she was living in Malibu for a while and I would see her. And then she kind of uprooted and went back to Vancouver Island, and she kind of disengaged from the whole thing. She wanted to get a fresh start. It's a bummer because we had a good friendship.'

The 'Witchblade' star noted that he and Pamela - who left 'Baywatch' in 1997 amid her marriage to Motley Cure rocker Tommy Lee - always worked so well on set together because of how neither of them took things so 'seriously' and didn't assume that they would become A-list film stars following their appearances on the action drama series.

He said: '[She] and I worked so well because we were really self-deprecating, like, we never took it that seriously. lot of people thought, 'I'm turning into a movie star. I'm leaving the show.' We weren't those kinds of actors. We were just like, 'This is so fun. Why would you leave the show? We get to do all these great things together, be on the beach and be with a bunch of really cool people.'

David also noted that he particularly enjoyed 'shooting second unit' because that meant that a fun day on the water was lined up.

He added: 'It always meant we were going to be doing action and water rescues, driving the boats, jet skis, beating up bad guys or making out with Pam. 'Second unit was a lot of montage stuff. You knew it'd be a really fun day. That's where you go to work, and you get to do all these cool things in the water.'
