A Florida father and son were seen enjoying a ride on a jet ski just moments before they were killed in a horrific crash.

José Dominguez, 47, and his nine-year-old son Daniel died on August 13 in the Florida Keys, just after moving to the area from Miami.

The father and son from Miami were riding a 2018 Yamaha personal watercraft when they crashed into a seawall in the Middle Keys in Marathon just before 7pm, the  Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.

José, who was driving at full speed in a no-wake zone, hit the seawall 'head on,' Sheriff Rick Ramsay of Monroe County told the Miami Herald. He said there was 'no slowing down.'

The jet ski hit the wall with such force that the father was ejected about 20 feet onto land, while the boy was thrown into the water, Ramsay said.

Just moments before the fatal crash, the father an son were seen on the jet ski with life jackets on

Surveillance video captured the father and son on the jet ski with life jackets on. An image showed the front of the watercraft ripped off and a sandal left on the side.

Immediately after the horrific crash witnesses at a nearby mobile home park dove into the water to tend to the child.

Multiple people frantically called 911 to report the crash as one witness said: 'There's a jet ski accident right across the canal.'

An anxious child also called the police and started speaking Spanish while they breathed heavily.

'Send the ambulance, quickly! They are outside because they were coming to the bridge and I think my uncle do gas… and they hit the bridge,' they said.

'I don’t know how many people were on the jet ski, but they slammed into the wall… I think they landed on the ground. I don’t think anybody’s in the water.'

Another panicked caller said the father was thrown to the ground 'because he hit at 50 mph.'

'There’s just a jet ski explosion… I didn’t really see it, I just heard it, but I think he like, ran straight into the seawall, and he’s like, on land,' another caller relayed.

'We watched it from the restaurant windows here,' another person said in their 911 call, obtained by NBC Miami

One woman, Jennifer, who was with her family at the nearby Castaways Waterfront Restaurant and Sushi Bar, told the Miami Herald that José wasn't moving, but Daniel was 'making noise.'

Jennifer recalled another young boy crying and screaming by Daniel after the crash.

'A man tore down the wood privacy fence to get across to Daniel, who was about 10 feet in from the wall, against a motorhome.

'Everyone was crying. I, and others, began praying,' she added.

The father was pronounced dead at the scene while his son was airlifted to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. During the ride there he went into cardiac arrest and died, Ramsay said.

Morgan Coleman, who works at the nearby restaurant, created a GoFundMe page to help support José's wife and Daniel's mother, Griselda Pérez.

Family members said the family had just moved to the Florida Keys from Miami after they fell in love with the area. Daniel (right) was supposed to start school the day after the accident

'Griselda Pérez, a loving wife and mother, is now left to navigate the heartache of losing her husband and son while also raising her two surviving children alone,' Coleman wrote.

'Griselda now faces the overwhelming burden of grief, while also needing to provide for her children’s future without the support of her husband. No one should have to endure such a loss alone.'

As of Wednesday morning, the donation page raised more than $8,600 for the widow and her surviving children.

Daniel was supposed to start school at Stanley Switlik Elementary School the day after the crash.

According to the report, alcohol was not involved in the fatal accident.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the crash. DailyMail.com contacted the agency for comment.
