CNN stars Dana Bash and Abby Phillip have criticized Kamala Harris for not being specific about her proposals, which they say could lead to a Donald Trump win in November.

Bash joked on Wednesday that you could play a drinking game every time VP Harris repeats the same talking points on the economy, often bringing up small businesses and her middle class background.

'When you listen to Kamala Harris on what she will do, you can almost start a drinking game every time she says ‘small businesses,' Bash said during a panel discussion.

Meanwhile Phillip said on Tuesday that Harris 'lacked specifics' and does not have quick and 'understandable' answers regarding the economy and other topics.

'Black journalists today at the NABJ [National Black Journalists Association] pressed vice president Kamala Harris on policies from guns to the war in Gaza, but many of her answers lacked specifics,' Phillip said.

Bash played a clip of Harris in her interview with NABJ where she talked about her plans to expand the tax credit for small businesses.

'She also talks about being a middle-class kid. That’s also the front of her answers,' said CNN panelist, Semafor reporter David Weigel. Both Bash and Phillip said Harris has failed to provide concrete answers to the most pressing concern for Americans - the high cost of living.

Weigel added: 'What people want to hear is how do you make the prices go down?

'There is not a plan to say that we’re going to lower the cost of your grocery bill to what it was in 2019...

'And Harris, I think, with a different set of incentives and a different relationship to something she can back up in a policy paper, she doesn’t have an answer. So she goes to a larger, well, imagine a future where there are more businesses and this starts to ameliorate.'

Harris on Tuesday sat down for a rare interview with a trio of journalists from the National Association of Black Journalists,

Asked whether Americans are better off today than four years ago when she and President Joe Biden entered office, Harris did not directly answer the question, instead referencing the state of the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic and bringing up her plans to try to lower housing costs and promoting herself as a 'new generation' of leader.

Harris said her candidacy offers the country a chance at 'turning the page on an era that sadly has shown us attempts to by some to incite fear to create division in our country.'

Janiyah Thomas, Black media director for the Trump campaign, said Harris’ remarks to the National Association of Black Journalists on Tuesday reveal her record of failures for Black Americans.

'She told the NABJ that after three and half years of her failed policies, grocery prices are too high and the American Dream is unattainable for young Americans,' Thomas said.

'We can’t afford four more years of Kamala Harris. It’s time to put President Trump back in the White House and restore economic prosperity.'

Harris has largely sidestepped traditional media appearances and instead focused on rallies, grassroots organizing and social media engagement, where the vice president can sidestep questions from independent journalists about her policy record and proposed agenda.
