A CNN anchor says her husband of 22 years has died of pancreatic cancer

Alisyn Camerota, 58, said she had some ‘some very sad and personal news’ to share Friday as she announced that husband Tim Lewis had lost a two year battle against pancreatic cancer.

The broadcast journalist’s husband passed on July 27 - just months before what would have been their twenty-third wedding anniversary.

Camerota shared on Instagram: ‘Some very sad personal news to share: my beloved and extraordinary husband Tim passed away on July 27th, two years after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.’

Her post went on to detail her late-husband’s courageous battle following his diagnosis two years ago.

‘I cannot imagine any human being soldiering through a devastating diagnosis with more humor, humility and bravery than Tim,’ the post reads.

‘The kids and I are still getting our bearings,’ she shared, adding, ‘Tim imbued us with a lot of strength and stability and we’re determined to try to emulate those qualities.’

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Lewis returned to his roots often to watch ‘his beloved Chiefs with his high school friends, reveling in childhood stories of playing D&D, Risk, and all you can eat taco nights,’ Lewis’s obituary reads.

Lewis graduated from Yale University - where he was a proud member of the a cappella singing group, the Spizzwinks - and would eventually go on to Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.

He then went on to have a ‘long, successful career in private equity and business consulting,’ at various firms like The Keystone Group, CRG Partners and Atlantic Street Capital before joining Southfield Capital, where he was a partner for nearly ten years.

But nothing topped his devotion to his family. Alisyn and his three children were his top priorities.

The CNN anchor and commentator took to Instagram on Friday to share the heartbreaking announcement of her husband's untimely death

‘He was a phenomenal father, husband, friend and role model and the rest of us are left trying to follow in his footsteps,’ Camerota’s post continued.

She also made note of her husband’s devotion to community and people around him. Having gotten his start giving back in high school, Lewis gave to many educational and scholarship funds throughout his life ‘so other kids could have the advantages he and his children did.’

In her husband’s honor the CNN anchor established and are accepting donations towards ‘The Tim Lewis Foundation’ with the goal to help other people and families struggling with the ‘particularly challenging’ diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Camerota closed her post with: ‘I feel incredibly lucky to have had such a deep, committed, loving partnership for the time we had.

‘I plan to write more in the coming days and to be back at work in the next few weeks. Thank you all for your love and letters, trays of lasagna, and the many, many gestures of kindness. I am grateful.’

Camerota joined CNN in 2014 after a lengthy tenure with Fox News.
