Brad Gilbert has revealed that he is no longer working with US tennis sensation Coco Gauff

The legendary coach - who has also worked with the likes of Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick and Andy Murray - helped Gauff win her maiden Grand Slam at last year's US Open.

They began working together in July 2023 but, on Wednesday, Gilbert confirmed the split on social media after a difficult few months for the 20-year-old.

'Thanks to Coco Gauff and the entire team for an absolutely amazing summer run in 2023 and for 14 months of incredible team effort,' he wrote.

'Coco, at just 20 years young, your future is incredibly bright, and I wish you nothing but continued success ahead. I’m excited for the next chapter in my coaching career.'

Later on Wednesday afternoon, Gauff posted on X: 'Thank you (Brad)! We had an incredible run and I wish you all the best in the future!'

Earlier this month, Gauff's hopes of retaining her US Open title ended in the fourth round, when she was beaten by fellow American Emma Navarro.

The No 3 seed hit more double faults (19) than winners (14) in the three-set defeat and afterwards, calls grew for her to fire Gilbert. When one fan suggested Nick Kyrgios should step in, the Australian said: 'I'd coach her.'

Navarro also beat Gauff in the fourth round of Wimbledon back in July. After that defeat, Gauff called out Gilbert and her team.

'We had a game plan going in... I felt that it wasn’t working. I don’t always ask for advice on the box.

Earlier this month, Nick Kyrgios offered to step in and replace Gilbert as Gauff's new coach

'Today was one of those rare moments where I felt I didn’t have solutions.

'I don’t want to say I didn’t have any because I think I’m a capable player of coming up with some. I think today mentally there was a lot going on. I felt like I wanted more direction from the box.

'It’s happened before,' she added. 'They usually give me something. I felt today I don’t think we were all in sync.'

Earlier in the summer, Gauff was reduced to tears after a heated exchange with the umpire at the French Open.  She broke down again after another argument as she crashed out of the Olympics in Paris.
