Dozens of tornadoes swept through the Midwest damaging homes and buildings and injuring at least two people.
Forecasters said the central U.S. in parts of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and northwestern Illinois were under threat of severe weather through Tuesday, with thunderstorms, potentially large hail and damaging winds.
Authorities have started to assess the damage of the storms that saw winds reach up to 110 mph in some areas.
Millions were under tornado warnings and thousands were without power as the storms ripped through the region.

The Dallas County Sheriff's office said three agricultural buildings were severely damaged or destroyed due to the tornado that traveled for six to seven miles, reported the Des Moines Register.

An EF1 tornado touched down near Overbrook, Kansas with winds up to 100 mph that flipped over an RV and injured two people on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Kyle Michael, who was in the RV, told WIBW: 'I got up and turned on the news and about that time everything got dead still and I ran and grabbed my wife which we were in the camper at the time and it picked the camper up and tossed us out of it and basically destroyed everything.'
'It happened so quick, it was so quiet and it was just like being inside a dryer and being tumbled around and next thing you know I was laying in the grass in the rain then trying to find my wife.'

'From there I was just yelling for her and she was still in the rubble of the camper. I found her and we found our two dogs that are still alive and well and we got to the last vehicle we had that wasn’t damaged to get out of the weather and call 911,' he said.

Dusty Nichols with Shawnee County Emergency Management told KSNT there is damage reports from SE 105th Street and SE Dupont Road. Two local homes have damage to their roofs with some trees uprooted.
Osage County Emergency Management says there is confirmed damage between E 165th through to 173rd Street on S Croco Road. There is also damage being reported on S Shawnee Heights Road from E 125th Street north to the county line.
Missouri
A camper was blown over and the roof was ripped off a building when a strong storm hit the area around Smithville Lake in western Missouri, the Clay County Sheriff's Department said.
'A mom, dad and 11-year-old boy, as well as their dog and cat, lived in this camper full-time. It was blown over and severely damaged today. The family managed to make it to safety in one of the campground’s bathrooms, which also serve as storm shelters. They and their pets are safe, but they lost nearly everything else,' said the sheriff's department.
The National Weather Service confirmed an EF1 tornado with max wind speeds of 95 mph occurred over Smithville Lake.
Downed trees and power lines were reported in several communities near Kansas City.
A Chicago-bound American Eagle Flight 3661 returned to Kansas City International Airport just before 6 a.m., soon after it took off, due to a possible lightning strike, American Airlines spokesperson Gianna Urgo said in an email. Maintenance workers were inspecting the aircraft to see if it was damaged.

At least one tornado was reported overnight in south central Nebraska and five were reported in northeast Nebraska on Tuesday, according to KLKN.
Damage to a detached garage was reported in Platte County, Nebraska after several tornadoes touched down in the area.
