Before the team's loss against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Toronto Raptors' in-arena announcer hilariously teased with NBA rookie Gradey Dick, calling him 'Mr. Big Big Energy' in the player's first ever start, although fans debate if that is actually the case on social media.
The Raptors' public address announcer, Mark Strong, was the man behind the mic' when sharing the starting lineups of both teams at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Wednesday night.
'Wearing number one, Mr. Big Big energy!' he shouted into the mic', before saying Dick's full name.
Video of possibly the best part of the mid-week game went viral online afterwards, as some fans think Strong said: 'Mr. Big Dick energy!'
The Toronto Raptors have told Mail Sport that they categorically deny their in-arena announcer poking fun at Dick's name by calling him 'Mr. BDE!'
The Raptors' Gradey Dick ended up with 11 points & two assists against the Bucks, Wednesday
'That's wild,' commented a user who thought Dick was introduced as 'Mr. BDE!' on X, formerly known as Twitter.
'Aren't there like a lot of little kids there? Seems inappropriate,' said someone else thinking the same thing.
'Blame his ancestors loll,' pointed out a fan, putting the blame on Dick's heritage and not on the announcer.
'Trade him to Dallas and he could be introduced as Big D in Big D,' shared a different person.
The Bucks proved to be too much to handle for the Raptors, Wednesday night, winning 128-112
Dick ended the game against Milwaukee, a 128-112 loss for Toronto, with 11 points on 2 of 10 shooting, and two assists in 26 minutes of action.
The 19-year-old is averaging 4.4 points per game, so far this season. Toronto holds a 5-6 overall record before Friday's NBA In-Season Tournament game vs. the Boston Celtics.
The Raptors are the 11th seed of the NBA Eastern Conference, as of Wednesday.
Dick, who's the 13th overall pick of this year's NBA draft class, also made a surprise appearance in a music video for a song produced by Drake's son, Adonis, called: 'My Man Freestyle!'
