Aubrey Plaza supported herself with a cane during an appearance on Tuesday's episode of The Drew Barrymore Show - nine weeks after a 'bad accident' on her knee.

The White Lotus actress, 40, debuted the walking stick as she entered the New York City studio, and was helped onto the set by presenter Drew, 49, and her My Old Ass costar Maisy Stella, 20.

Once they had reached the sofa, Aubrey took a seat and cheekily poked Maisy with the cane while the TV host hugged her.

Drew then probed: 'What happened, baby?'

'Oh, I just had a bad accident on my knee,' Aubrey replied.

'It's the second time I've done it, too. I did my left one seven years ago, playing basketball. And now, I did my right one.'

In July, Aubrey revealed on Instagram that she had torn her ACL at the WNBA All-Star Weekend.

'How it started…how it went…,' she wrote, alongside a series of photos from the weekend, including one which showed her with a bag of ice on her right knee.

Aubrey continued: 'Nothing can stop us! Thank you @wnba for hosting such an amazing weekend and taking such good care of me and my busted knee.

'Such a great game. See you in Paris (no).'

Earlier this month, Aubrey candidly spoke about her experience with paralysis following a stroke aged 20.

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, she said: 'It was wild. It happened mid-sentence.'

Aubrey explained the stroke occurred when she was visiting friends for a bite to eat while attending New York University.

The actress played coy when Drew asked her what had happened, only saying that she had injured her right knee

'I took the train to Astoria to have lunch with my friends and I walked into their apartment - I hadn't even taken my jacket off - and it just happened,' she said.

She added: 'I was paralyzed, but only really for a minute or something. I lost my motor skills really briefly. The freakiest thing was I forgot how to talk.'

Aubrey and Maisy joined Tuesday's episode of The Drew Barrymore Show to discuss their comedy film, My Old Ass, which follows Elliott Labrant (played by both Maisy and Aubrey) who has been advised by her future self not to fall in love.

Discussing the movie, Aubrey said: 'When I read the script, I cried. I cry every time I watch it.

She shared a number of snaps of her recovery on her social media page

'It's a universal concept, that time is fleeting and that our relationships are so important.

'And you look back on your life, and you wish you had spent more time with your loved ones.'

Maisy added: 'I still haven't really wrapped my head [around it] I think just because it was my actual ideal project.

'I was obsessed with everything about it.'

She continued: 'When I read it for the first time, I was alone in my room, and I couldn't help but read the lines out loud. I was just like, so excited.'
