Furious diner is left speechless after asking locals what they think of ICE raiding his favorite Mexican restaurant

2 days ago 1

An Ohio man stood completely shocked and horrified after witnessing the lack of sympathy from fellow residents after ICE raided his favorite Mexican restaurant.

One of the mandates of Donald Trump's election was to fix America's migrant crisis and the president and his 'border czar' Tom Homan have gotten straight to work across America's cities.

The diner, posting to TikTok, showed one such example at Cilantro Taqueria, a Mexican chain, at its location in Cleveland Heights, one of Cleveland's main suburbs.

At least 56 ICE detainees across northeast Ohio are being held in a detention facility, though it has not confirmed any of them came from the restaurant raid.

The Cleveland Scene reported that at least one employee was escorted into a white van and detained late Sunday afternoon.

The TikToker, who goes by the name 'Matt Daydreams,' was furious with how popular the raid of his 'favorite taqueria' was with his neighbors.

After confirming as best he could that the restaurant was the subject of a search, he began to ask passersby if they'd heard about it.

'I think I'm gonna sit here and just talk to people as they walk by and see if I can find anyone that seems to give a f*** about them, before smash-cutting to him saying he'd gone '0-for-3' in finding anyone who disapproved of the raid.

'A couple times I said: 'this is really bad, this is terrible, I don't like this at all' and people shrugged their shoulders and said 'this is an unfortunate situation.''

He then claimed another bystander simply said: 'Well, then don't do bad things.'

Another was only angry that their credit card had been charged. There are some sympathizers in the area, however, who have left flowers at the door of the restaurant as tribute to those arrested.

Matt Daydreams said in another video that the taqueria was going to be closed for at least three days.

Cleveland Heights - a city with a Democrat mayor that Joe Biden won over Trump by about 180,000 votes - claims it had nothing to do with the federal raid.

'The City of Cleveland Heights did not have prior knowledge of, was not involved in, nor did it cooperate or coordinate with federal officials from ICE in a raid on Cilantro Taqueria. The alleged raid and detention of persons at this establishment have not been confirmed by the City of Cleveland Heights at this time.'

DailyMail.com has reached out to both Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Cilantro Taqueria for comment.

A child rapist, murderer and a suspected ISIS terrorist are among the violent criminals being dragged from their homes and loaded onto deportation flights as Donald Trump ramps up his crackdown on illegal immigration.

The sweeping raids across the country have seen violent criminals rounded up and sent packing on government flights at break-neck speed.

Liberals and celebrities are in shock, despite Trump promising for months that they would happen on his first day back in office.

Homan denied that children are being targeted and doubled down that the administration is working to deport illegal migrants with criminal records.

'I don't think we've arrested any families. We've arrested public safety threats and national security threats, bottom-line,' he said.

'President Trump won the election on this one issue - securing our border and saving lives. What happened on our southern border in the last four years is the biggest national security threat our county has seen, at least in my lifetime.'

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said it made 956 arrests nationwide on Sunday and 286 on Saturday.

The Trump Administration has quickly moved to ramp up deportations and arrest illegal migrants who pose 'public safety threats ', specifically targeting sanctuary cities such as Chicago, San Francisco and San Jose - which bar cooperation between city police and immigration agents.

However, the president has reportedly been unhappy with the low number and has directed officials to meet higher detention quotas.

Border czar Tom Homan has spearheaded the changes - and issued a scathing response to a teary-eyed Gomez, who was upset over the deportation of Mexican people

He ordered ICE to raise the arrest numbers from a few hundred a day to at least 1,200 to 1,500, according to The Washington Post.

Trump ordered each of ICE's field offices to make 75 arrests per day, and managers would be held accountable for missing those targets.

The sheer number of federal agencies involved showed Trump's willingness to use federal law enforcement beyond the Department of Homeland Security to carry out his long-promised mass deportations.

The White House, hailing the federal agents who are 'working tirelessly to protect our communities', highlighted what it described as 'some of the worst' migrants to be rounded up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) over the weekend.

The DEA and ICE have been cooperating for decades and there was nothing new about the two agencies coordinating, he said.

A Honduran national found with cocaine, fentanyl, and a firearm was arrested following a sting in Washington state, while a Jordanian national with suspected ties to the Islamic State was detained in Buffalo, New York.

ICE arrested a Mexican national with an active INTERPOL Red Notice who was wanted for murder in Los Angeles, as well as a gangster from El Salvador who was wanted for aggravated homicide.

At least two convicted child rapists were taken into custody over the weekend. Federal agents also detained dozens of members of the violent Venezuelan crime gang Tren de Aragua (TdA).

Trump - who during his campaign said that immigrants were 'poisoning the blood' of the United States - took office with promises to round up and swiftly deport undocumented people.

While some countries including Guatemala have accepted military deportation flights, Trump had faced resistance from Colombia President Gustavo Petro, a former guerrilla elected in 2022 as Colombia's first left-wing leader.

Trump's deportation threats have put him on a potential collision course with governments in Latin America, the original home of most of America's estimated 11 million undocumented migrants.

Brazil, which is also led by a left-wing president, voiced outrage over treatment by the Trump administration of dozens of Brazilian migrants deported back to their country on Friday.

The migrants, who were deported under a bilateral agreement predating Trump's return, were handcuffed on the flight, in what Brazil called 'flagrant disregard' for their basic rights.

While previous US administrations also routinely carried out deportations, the Trump administration has begun using military aircraft, with at least one landing in Guatemala this week.
