Horror as cops make morbid discovery by carousel in iconic New York City park

Human remains were discovered on the shoreline of Brooklyn Bridge Park, marking the third time in one month that police recovered bones from the iconic landmark.

New York City police officers responded to a 911 call about bone fragments along the shore of 10 Dock Street around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Video shows the officers combing through rocks along the water across from the famous Jane's Carousel - which was built in 1922 and donated to the park in 2011 following years of restoration.

The woman who discovered the bones said she was intentionally looking around after learning about other remains being found in the same area in the previous week.

'I'm thinking how do bones happen to be by a carousel? So I'm looking at the rocks around the carousel and lo and behold,' Brooklyn resident Huntly Cooper told WABC.

Cooper said she found part of a spine. Patrol officers found a skull and other fragments, while another onlooker found a femur and smaller bones near the carousel.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner is notified and responding. The investigation remains ongoing, the NYPD told DailyMail.com. 

On August 19,  a city Parks Department enforcement officer found a skull and some bones along the same shoreline.

Others, as well as members of the New York Police Department, were then seen scouring through the rocks with cadaver dogs in their effort to find more remains.

One woman told News 12 Brooklyn she was able to see the crews handle a skull, hip bone and femur.

A few days later on August 21 a femur and a couple of smaller bones were discovered in the same area.

Police told the local news station both sets of bones found before Saturday came from the same person.
