Incorporating three-minute workouts into your day could be the key to toning your physique and improving wellbeing, experts claim.
Nutritional therapist Natalie Fader, from Canada, explained how 'exercise snacks' - a quick routine of three to five exercises performed for a few minutes - can provide an array of health benefits.
Ms Fader tried the latest fitness trend herself, claiming her body shape is already changing and she's able to hold a plank for three minutes instead of 30 seconds.
'For all my "I don't have time to exercise" people listen up! Turns out if we do these short little workouts randomly throughout our day it pays off big time,' Ms Fader wrote on Instagram.
'You build muscle which has huge benefits like improved sleep, hormone regulation, improved mood/mindset, etc.'
Nutritional therapist Natalie Fader, from Canada, said 'exercise snacks' can provide health benefits. The health trend involves performing three to five exercises for a few minutes multiple times during the day
What are some examples of exercise snacks?
Perform three to five of the following:
1. Plank
2. Wall sits
3. Squats
4. Leg lifts
5. Ab exercise of choice
'I tested this theory exactly one month ago. In between my client sessions I did three to five "exercise snacks",' Ms Fader added.
Throughout the workday she alternated between planks, wall sits, squats, leg lifts and abdominal exercises to reap the health benefits.
'Did the one exercise for the entire song and then moved on with my day until I could fit in my next exercise snack. Some days I did all five, other days I only did a couple,' she continued.
'The pay off? My body shape is changing, my clothes are starting to feel different and my plank time is increasing!
'I used to do four to five minute planks a few years back. I stopped working out like I used to about a year again and noticed I could only get to 30 seconds. I hit the three-minute mark today.'
The movements performed are decent body weight exercises that activate core muscle groups.
