An American woman living in England has revealed why the movie theater experience is so much better back home.

Aurora Victoria posted a TikTok video which highlighted the major difference for film lovers in the UK versus the US.

The content creator, originally from Virginia, was in for a food-related culture shock when she discovered that British cinemas do not offer popcorn drenched in butter nor are refills available.

And her revelations left other social media users bitterly divided.

Aurora Victoria posted a TikTok video which highlighted the major difference for film lovers in the UK versus the US

The content creator, originally from Virginia, was in for a culture shock when she discovered that British cinemas do not offer popcorn drenched in butter nor are refills available

Aurora, who has been living in the UK for two years, started off her video by saying: 'So another one of the biggest differences between the US and the UK is the movie theater experience.'

In her TikTok, she filmed herself during a night out to see a new film, showing off the venue where she was planning to view the movie, saying: 'This is a British movie theater.'

'First of all, they have no butter on the popcorn and they have three flavors,' Aurora continued.

The content creator then held up a small popcorn container to show the size, before continuing: 'The flavors are either salt, sweet or mixed salt and sweet.

'There's absolutely no butter.'

Commenting further on the sizing, this time she held up a large container and declared: 'This is the biggest one that they have and you cannot refill it at all.'

She captioned the video: 'I miss the American movie theater with butter popcorn. What type of popcorn do you like?'

Aurora got more than 1.3 million views and 109,800 likes on her video as well as some very mixed commentary.

The US expat has been living in the UK for two years now and often documents her observations on her TikTok

In one camp, there were those that agreed that butter popcorn is 'the best' - and were shocked to discover it was not a thing in the UK.

One wrote: 'No butter? What's the point in going then.'

Another added: 'I miss buttered popcorn too.'

'No butter?!? That's wild lol,' a third said before Aurora responded: 'Butter for the win.'

But, on the other hand, some commenters were disgusted by the thought of butter on popcorn.

One person wrote: 'Butter popcorn is, after jellied eels, the WORST tasting thing ever to exist.'

'Butter popcorn is the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted,' another person added.

Another person added: 'You're telling me in America you refill a large butter popcorn? Heart attack central.'

Elsewhere, Aurora posted another TikTok video where she spoke about how much weight she had lost since arriving in England

'According to information from major movie theater chains, a "large" portion (often 17 to 20 cups) may contain 900 to 1000 calories,' said Karen Collins, who is American Institute for Cancer Research's nutrition advisor.

'When the buttery topping is added, that can zoom up to about 1500 calories.'

Elsewhere, Aurora posted another TikTok video where she spoke about how much weight she had lost since arriving in England.

'You want to know the real tea? Since I moved to the UK, I have lost so much weight it's crazy.

'Who would have thought American food was bad for you? I've lost 15 pounds just by living here.'
