A man who made a Taylor Swift-inspired birthday cake for his niece has been fiercely roasted online for the 'terrifying' creation - as social media users joked she is going to 'need therapy' after seeing it.

UK-resident Keith Scovell recently left the internet in stitches after he uploaded photos to Facebook of the rather interesting dessert that he had created for his niece's 18th birthday celebration.

He baked a cake that was meant to resemble pop sensation Taylor, 34, but many people on the web felt like it didn't look anything like her.

In fact, some viewers joked that the cake seemed more like something out of a horror film, and branded it as 'scary' and 'nightmare-inducing.'

Keith - who has a Facebook account dedicated to his creations, called Kakes by Keith - shared a series of snaps of the cake to the group Rate My Plate earlier this week.

He wrote, 'My Taylor Swift cake I made for my niece's birthday,' and immediately, it went viral.

The cake - round and bright pink - was made to look like a face, featuring eyes, nose, and mouth all drawn on with icing.

But the eyes were uneven and faced in different directions, while the nose was just two small black lines.

The bright red mouth was wide open, and Keith used what appeared to be white Tic Tacs for the teeth.

Brown licorice was scattered in disarray around the cake for her hair, while Keith placed small red dots on each side of her face to resemble the Cruel Summer songstress' rosy cheeks.

He also included pieces of sponge that were shaped like fingers, as well as one that looked like a fake microphone.

'I really hope you're setting aside funds to support all the future therapy your niece is gonna need,' one person joked in the comment section.

'If this is meant to be realistic... It's a little scary,' wrote someone else.
