Inside Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's desperate bid to salvage their marriage and shut down divorce speculation - as the REAL reason for their house sale is revealed

Jennifer Lopez is throwing herself into saving her marriage to Ben Affleck, according to insiders, who claim their recent time apart has only reinforced just how much they love each other, further fueling their determination to avoid calling it quits.

The pair, who recently listed their $60million family home, were last pictured together on June 2 and have spent several big occasions - including Mother's Day and their second wedding anniversary - apart amid ongoing reports their rekindled romance is careering towards divorce.

But Lopez, 54, has made a concerted effort to focus on their blended family and has put work commitments on hold to help get their romance back on track.

'Jennifer is hopeful right now about salvaging her marriage to Ben,' a source told DailyMail.com exclusively.

'She would not be spending time with his children acting in the role as a mom to them if she was not working things out with him or, at the very least, on the right path.'

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have realized they still love each other after spending some time apart 'to think things over', a source has revealed to DailyMail.com (pictured in February)

The source revealed that the pair put their marital home back on the market because their family did not feel 'safe' in the Bel Air mansion and struggled to call it 'home'

The insider added that the true reason why Ben and Jennifer have not been together so far this summer was to help them determine how much they still valued their relationship.

'They have given each other space to think things over and this has reinforced that they do love each other,' the source claimed.

'Jennifer has put work on hold to focus on repairing the damage that was done. She knows that she allowed her career and her fame to come between her marriage at times.'

They continued: 'She is really trying to just be a good mom and a normal person for the time being because she knows that, at the end of the day, her riches and fame aren't everything. She is hoping that it is not too late.'

However, the insider added that Affleck had also made his own mistakes, adding: 'Those around her have assured her that she is not solely to blame as Ben is not a walk in the park either.'

DailyMail.com previously revealed that Lopez had even been confiding in her husband's ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, who eventually had to step back from an informal mediator role between the pair, as she no longer wanted to be part of the 'circus' around the pair.

But she still remains in 'constant communication' with Garner who has 'helped things tremendously.'

'Jennifer is eternally grateful for her help even though she has now taken a step back,' the insider said. 'But Jen was able to get through to her ex-husband like no one else could – even her.'

Affleck's eldest daughter Violet, 18, was seen spending quality time with Lopez in South Hampton, New York last weekend

A source revealed: 'Jennifer is really trying to just be a good mom and a normal person for the time being because she knows that none of her riches and fame mean anything'

Affleck and Garner share three children: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.

Meanwhile, Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.

It looked like their blended family would be ripped apart after Affleck moved out of their California mansion and into a $100K-a-month rental located near his ex-wife.

Just weeks later, the home was quietly listed for $65 million and the pair began selling off art work from inside the mansion.

However, the source revealed that the pair had a simple reason for choosing to put their marital home back on the market - their family did not feel 'safe' in the Bel Air mansion and struggled to call it 'home.'

'Jennifer and Ben decided to sell their house because neither one of them, nor their kids, felt like this place was home,' the insider dished.

'It was too big, and the openness made them feel unsafe at times and although they have around the clock security, something just didn’t feel right.'

The source added that Affleck, in particular, never felt truly comfortable in the mansion - likely leading to him being so quick to move his items out last month.

They added: 'Ben hated the house more than Jennifer, so when things started to fall apart in their marriage he was just over it.

'The amount of money it costs just in utilities for that home was astronomical.'

The couple's love story first began in 2002 when they dated while filming the movie Jersey Girl. They got engaged the following year but broke up in 2004.

They delighted fans when they rekindled their romance in the spring of 2021. They tied the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, followed by a lavish wedding at his Georgia estate a month later.

But the duo were spotted on opposite ends of the country as they seemingly failef to come together to mark their second anniversary on July 16.

A smiling Affleck was spotted suited up as he arrived to his office in Los Angeles, carrying a large iced coffee and a duffel bag while Lopez was in the Hamptons with his 18-year-old daughter Violet.

Whatever happens next, the pair still have plans to work together as Lopez is set to star in two upcoming movies - Unstoppable and Kiss Of The Spider Woman - for Affleck and Matt Damon's production company, Artists Equity.
