Isla Fisher was delighted to work with Rebel Wilson on their 2012 film Bachelorette.
Actress Isla, 48, made the comments around the time of the movie's release 12 years ago, way before the publication of Rebel's explosive comments about Isla's estranged husband Sacha Baron Cohen.
It emerged on Friday Isla and Sacha had split after 14 years of marriage and three children.
The British actor, 52 and the Australian actress quietly separated last year, with the pair attending Oscars parties separately last month.
Before the split and Rebel's claims that Sacha asked her strip and made X-rated request on a film set, Isla said she was 'incredibly lucky' to work with Rebel.

The pair worked together on 2012 film Bachelorette, with Rebel playing bride Becky Archer and Isla playing her friend Katie Lawrence.
Isla told the Huffington Post: 'I think we got incredibly lucky with Rebel because that character, without her being so sympathetic, we wouldn’t really have cared about the dress, we wouldn’t have cared about the story.'
Rebel had equally glowing words for Isla, saying she was one of the reasons she accepted a part in the film.
She also told the Huffington Post: 'Of course, when I heard Kirsten Dunst and Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan were the other three girls, I jumped at the chance.'
Isla confirmed her split from husband Sacha on Instagram on Friday with a snap of the pair jokingly posing in tennis outfits and wrote: 'After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down.
'In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy and have been quietly working through this change
'We forever share in our devotion and love for our children We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family's wish for privacy.'
The couple first met back in 2002 and tied the knot in 2010. They are parents to daughters Olive, 17 and Elula, 13, and son Montgomery, nine.

Rebel claimed Sacha asked her 'stick her finger up his a**' and strip nude during filming for his movie, The Brothers Grimsby, something which he denies.
She has been making explosive claims about her experience with the British star, 52, in her new memoir, Rebel Rising, branding him an 'a**hole'.
Rebel has now claimed she had an uncomfortable experience while filming the 2016 comedy – claims which Sacha has said are false and contradicted by evidence - and shared details in a new excerpt from her autobiography.
She played the role of his character Nobby's girlfriend Dawn.
In the passage obtained by People Magazine, Rebel has alleged that Sacha would repeatedly ask her to strip off for scenes despite her 'no nudity' rule.
The most shocking allegation is that he requested she 'stick her finger up his a**' because he thought it would make a funny scene in the film.
Rebel writes: 'It felt like every time I'd speak to SBC, he'd mention that he wanted me to go naked in a future scene. I was like, "Ha, I don't do nudity, Sacha".'
Rebel claimed that she was allegedly summoned by a product assistant for an additional scene while shooting in Cape Town, South Africa.

Rebel says: "OK, well, we're gonna film this extra scene," SBC says. 'Then he pulls his pants down', SBC says very matter-of-factly: "OK, now I want you to stick your finger up my a**." And I'm like, "What?? … No!!"'
Rebel claimed she was shocked and wanted to get out of it, adding: 'I was now scared. I wanted to get out of there, so I finally compromised: I slapped him on the ass and improvised a few lines as the character.'
The Bridesmaids actress also claimed she only agreed to a sex scene with Sacha after several rewrites and recalled allegedly telling the producers that she wouldn't be promoting the film ahead of its release.
Sacha has strongly denied ever mistreating Rebel or pressuring her to be naked in the film.
A spokesperson for Sacha, said: 'While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.'
Sacha's team also provided nine anonymous statements from crew members that backed the claim that the scene was in the script.
Rebel said she feels it is 'karma' the film didn't perform well at the box office when it was released.
It comes soon after Rebel spoke out to thank fans for their support as she insisted that she won't be 'bullied or threatened' on Tuesday.
Rebel made explosive claims about her experience with Sacha, who she has branded an 'a**hole' in her new memoir, Rebel Rising
The Australian actress worked with the British star on The Brothers Grimsby (2016), where she played the role of his character Nobby's girlfriend Dawn
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: 'Thanks so much to everyone who has sent gorgeous messages of support in the last few days and to those who shared with me their stories of this a**hole!'
'Don't worry I won't be bullied or threatened by this guy! And am working hard behind the scenes to make sure my book comes out! Ps my book is not ABOUT this guy - this is one chapter!'
Rebel originally claimed she was facing potential legal action after dedicating an entire chapter to a difficult working experience with a then unnamed former co-star - branded an 'a**hole' by her.
She later confirmed the actor in question is Sacha, best known for his comedy creations Ali G and Borat.
Sharing an Instagram post on Sunday, she wrote: 'I will not be silenced by high priced lawyers or PR crisis managers. The a****** I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen.'
The post came just two days after the Pitch Perfect star alleged that a celebrity she once worked with was threatening her over the release of the memoir.
'I wrote about an a**hole in my book,' she told Instagram followers. 'Now, said a****** is trying to threaten me. He’s hired a crisis PR manager and lawyers.
'He is trying to stop press coming out about my book. But the book WILL come out and you will all know the truth.'

In an Instagram video shared on March 15, Rebel revealed she has dedicated a chapter in her book to the 'massive a**hole' she worked with in Hollywood.
She claimed she would eventually name the male colleague, whose alleged behaviour prompted her to adopt a 'no a**holes policy' on set.
She wrote: 'When I first came to Hollywood, people were like, "Yeah, I have a no-a**holes policy that means, like, I don't work with a**holes." I was like, "Yeah, I mean, that sounds sensible and logical."
'But then it really sunk in what they were meaning by that, older people in the industry. Because I worked with a massive a**hole, and, yeah, now I definitely have a no-a**holes policy.
'Chapter one said a**hole — it is chapter 23, that guy was a massive a**hole.'
She added: 'Do you want to know who is the biggest a**hole I've ever worked with in Hollywood? Chapter 23 lists it all out! Do you wanna know why I have a 'no a**holes' policy now with people I work with?
'I wrote about an a**hole in my book. Now, said a****** is trying to threaten me. He’s hired a crisis PR manager and lawyers.
'Well it's all in the book: REBEL RISING available for pre-order now (drops April 2nd, link in bio)… oh and YES I name the a**hole!'
