Sen. J.D. Vance lashed out at Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear for wishing a member of his family would become pregnant through rape.

The Republican vice presidential nominee slammed Beshear for the 'disgusting' comment made the night after he spoke about protecting abortion rights on night one of Democratic National Convention.

'Make him go through this,' Beshear said on MSNBC on Tuesday morning.

Vance's campaign is calling on Vice President Kamala Harris to immediately denounce the comments and says the 'violent rhetoric' has not place in political discourse.

Vance responded to Beshear with a post on X: 'What the hell is this?'

'Why is Andy Beshear wishing that a member of my family would get raped?!?' he questioned, adding: 'What a disgusting person.'

Sen. J.D. Vance called Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear 'disgusting' for wishing he would experience a family member becoming pregnant from rape

Beshear downplayed the controversy in comments to DailyMail.com on Tuesday.

'It's ridiculous. And more than that, it's an attempt to deflect. Obviously, I don't wish anybody harm, nor would I ever but what this is about is J.D. Vance trying to make himself the victim,' he said at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago.

'J.D. Vance, like myself, is a man who will never have to go through the things that we are talking about. All I wish is that he have enough empathy to put himself in somebody else's position. But no, this is an attempt to create controversy. It's ridiculous. Nobody means anybody any harm.'

Beshear was the headline speaker talking about protecting abortion access at the first time of the Convention on Monday.

He spoke after three different stories were shared about women who needed to terminate their pregnancies for various reasons.

One woman, Hadley Duvall talked about getting pregnant at age 12 after years of sexual abuse by her step father.

'Trump calls abortion bans across the country a beautiful thing. What's so beautiful about a child having to carry her parent's child?' Duvall said on stage at the United Center on Monday.

In response to Beshear's comments to MSNBC, Vance's Communications Director William Martin released a statement:

'After speaking on the DNC main stage last night, Harris campaign surrogate Governor Andy Beshear went on national television this morning and explicitly called for a member of Senator Vance's family to be raped.'

'His comments are disgusting, vile, and should not be tolerated in American politics,' he continued. 'We call on Kamala Harris to immediately repudiate Governor Beshear's comments and demonstrate that regardless of partisan disagreements, this kind of violent rhetoric has no place in our public discourse.'
