Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson was accompanied to the Octagon by a very special guest at UFC 296 - with Jack Black walking out alongside him before his fight against Shavkat Rakhmonov.

Thompson has long walked out to 'Wonderboy' - the debut single of Black's former rock-comedy band Tenacious D - and the two are also said to have been friends over the years.

The unlikely duo notably linked up in the past when Black taught Thompson the 'Kick of Destiny' during the leadup to his fight against Kevin Holland at UFC 279.

The School of Rock star's appearance was likely the highlight of Thompson's night, however, as he went on to lose the fight against Rakhmonov after being submitted in the second round via a rear-naked choke.

Thompson was eventually defeated in the second round after submitting to a rear naked choke

During the first round of the fight the action started off slow as Thompson spent large portions of time pressed against the fence and offered a limited damage output.

He was eventually able to land a nice kick to the body and a solid overhand right before the round ended, but the action was not enough to avoid boos from the fans.

Thompson came out much more aggressive in the second round before once again finding himself against the cage and eventually being taken down to the mat once again.

After finally attempting to get back to his feet and defending against a d'arce choke, Thompson scrambled his way right into the rear-naked choke that led to his demise with less than 10 seconds left in the round.

He had attempted to last until the end of the round but decided he was better off tapping out instead of being forced to take early nap.
